It doesn't look like any of these quite meet the new carry on size restrictions

I got the winfield 3 from woot and it cracked on 2nd flight. I also have the winfield 2 and still going strong after at least 10 flights (long, short, multi routes).

Agreed, I decided this is going to kill the deal for me. Why would they not design the bag to conform to what is basically an industry standard? Foolish.
Some people use it for traveling via land or cruise, to pack a lot where restricting don't apply..

I have the Winfield 2 set. Has survived alot of international flights. Still working great, but has some scratches. Polycarbonate really is awesome. The large bag is over the 62 in limit, but I've never had an airline say anything or charge extra. Still, be aware. Would recommend. Just ordered the Carbon X set right now because their large bag is supposedly within the 62in limit and pretty light. Lets see how it holds up later this year.
i'm also ordering the Carbon X set, but the sizing looks weird (Large is smaller and lighter than the Medium). Hopefully this is not a type on the spec:
What's Included Weight Exterior Dimensions Interior Dimensions
Carry-On 7.5 lbs 22.5 in. x 15 in. x 10 in. 19.5 in. x 14 in. x 10 in.
Medium 8.9 lbs 27.0 in. x 17.5 in. x 15 in. 24 in. x 16.75 in. x 11 in.
Large 8.4 lbs 30.0 in. x 19.0 in. x 12.0 in. 25.8 in. x 18.5 in. x 9.2 in.

These are ABS/Polycarbonate and not 100% polycarbonate.

Amazing deal, but both the carry on and large size with wheels and handles are all technically over actual size limits, so be friendly and hopefully no airline staff will decide to place your bag in the sizers bc oversize and gate check fees can be painful...

Are these the good materials or ones that crack? I'm so confused.

Or some say just get Costco or Sam's club. Hmm
My parents seem to stick with these samsonites and im not sure why. They travel fairly frequent and they've had so many issues.
They've had the shell crack.
They've had the zippers go bad
They've had the hinges that hold both half of the shell together break
They've had the wheels go bad....

Personally I still use the heavy hard shell style from the 80's. Seems indestructible.

The old suitcases all used to have built in locks that used a key or number lock. What do you do about the locks in today's TSA era? Leave unlocked or use some other contraption.

I leave it unlocked. They're not very hard to open anyways. My brother had one where the lock wouldn't open anymore. The plastic gives enough to open it anyways

I just received my Carbon X set. The dimensions listed on the tag on the Large bag is 31inx21inx13in. It also does look a bit wider than the winfield 2. Im gonna keep it for the double wheels and hope they continue not measuring it at the airport.

Curious why carbon over Winfield 3/2? I'm leaning towards Carbon for looks and based off recommendation from ChatGPT.

I got it in hopes that the Large bag dimensions listed on the website was real, so that it would be just under the 62in limit. Turns out the website is wrong and the large bag is actually over the 62 in limit. I like my winfield 2 for the polycarbonate and it's survived a lot of trips. But the double wheels on the Carbon X is better so i'll keep it even if it's only an abs/polycarbonate blend.

I had my Winfield 2 set for almost 10 years and more than 10+ international flights. it scrached like crazy, one of the TSA lock is broken, but overall the structural of the suitable still running strong.

was thinking about upgrade to Winfield 3 set, after reading some of the review, i felt i should just stick with my Winfield 2 set for now.
