Attached are GeekBench scores that I ran on the phones I have/had. The 2024 Moto G Stylus has similar scores to the Samsung A54 5G. The 2025 Moto G Stylus has a faster process than the 2024 version, so it should be faster than the A54. I ordered the 2025 Stylus this morning. I will run GeekBench on it when I receive it, and post the scores.

Unfortunately, after Verizon has been relieved of its boundation to unlock devices within 60 days on Jan 20 2026, this is the easiest and cheapest way to buy a new device with decent specs that gets auto unlock (albeit after 365 days) without paying anything extra after the initial activation. From the carrier perspective it makes little sense selling the devices at steep discount without even breaking-even by making the customer pay the overly inflated telecom service, so its kind of a stretch expecting them to easily unlock the devices (within a short period of time like 60 days).
Having said that, this is slickdeals Smilie and here, one expects to get the best possible 'bang for the buck' on a given day, hence the deal. Happy to be corrected.

Would love to get this but waiting a year for unlock sucks, that is an unreasonably long wait time 😞 They really should change unlock policy back to 60 days (or less).

I don't think the T‑Mobile offer is a good deal, and here's why. With T‑Mobile, the $50 plan ends up costing about $59–$60 once you include the usual $9–$10 in taxes and fees, and while the phone is "free," you're locked into that higher monthly cost. Meanwhile, the same Motorola phone is currently $300 plus tax on Lenovo.com, and US Mobile's Starter plan—available on T‑Mobile, AT&T, or Verizon—costs $270 per year and includes a $90 credit you can apply toward the phone. When you add everything up, the US Mobile option comes out to roughly $480 total, while the T‑Mobile option ends up around $708–$720 for the year. That means US Mobile saves you about $230–$240 overall while still giving you the flexibility to choose the network you prefer. This is just one example, and depending on your needs, other MVNOs may offer even better deals or additional perks.
Apparently it unlocks a yr after you activate it but do not need to keep an active service for a year. So this would only cost $60

Thanks OP. ordered one.

my first phone with metro was a moto with immediate unlock code from an ebay seller. that option gone.
second phone was S23FE unlocked after 60 days for $150. this is gone too!
Now this one with 365 days... wondering what policy next 🤔. worth a try for $55 I reckon.
Under the current FCC, the next policy will be 365 years.

Don't forget, T-Mobile's MLB.tv freebie is just around the corner. March 25th or something, which you could enjoy for a year while waiting.

This deal is a home run !!

But why would they
Possibly to have more sales. As a customer, are you more likely to buy when there is a required minimum of 1 month or 12 months of service? More would be able to afford 1 or 2 months of service than 12. With a 2 month unlock policy they'd have my business already whereas with the current 12 month policy they do not. So that's one reason why they would.

You're correct — I checked T‑Mobile's unlock policy, and the timing depends on how much you spend on refills. The standard rule is that the phone unlocks 365 days after activation, but if you add at least $100 in refills, it becomes eligible for unlocking. So technically, if you only spend around $60, you're stuck waiting the full year, but if you put in $120, the device unlocks in just two months.
I actually got this phone for $50 from Straight Talk before their unlock policy changed, it's still a solid deal even at $120.

I have too of these with a TCL Tab10 NXTPapers 5g from StraightTalk for turning them into gifts once they're unlocked. In addition, I have two iphone 16e (Free with $100 giftcards) for collection and trade-in next year. It's just a hobby of passive investment while the phones serve as spare devices.
Tab 10 are unlocked from day 1

T-Mobile unlocking policy has that provision to get their phones unlocked earlier with at least $100 refill. Metro's Unlocking Policy has no such provision.

once it unlocks is it gonna be limited to verizon network /mvnos or will it also work on att network carriers? how common is it for mfrs to make diff network versions these days? (i'm old and dont replace phones often and that used to be every phone...).

I have/had a bunch of Moto phones from Metro. Once unlocked, they will work on T-mo and providers that use T-mo network. They will also work on Verizon and providers that use Verizon network, although some models don't have all of the Verizon 5G bands. AT&T has a "whitelist" of phones that they accept and often doesn't include Metro phones. That's a business decision and not a hardware/technical reason. The providers that use AT&T network usually follow AT&T's lead, but sometimes they break rank. I have some Metro phones that are accepted by Cricket (which uses AT&T network) but not by AT&T.

I had bought two straight talk phones back when they were unlocked after 30 days/1 month service. During the first month of service, their policy was changed so that it took 60 days/2 months of service to unlock, even for phones already activated. Some people managed to complain and get them to abide by the old terms, a lot of people weren't as lucky.
I know what happened back then last April but they back-dated a week or so. Those would activated before the back-dated date should still get their phones unlocked under the old terms.

Bought yesterday, shipped today, should arrive tomorrow with UPS. 😁
Shipping info shows "SIM Starter Kit Metro", most likely not e-sim.
So far, I like the Total Wireless/Verizon version I am using, battery is not that bad, just disable all the junk apps with ADB and turn of data for those that can't be disabled, wireless charging magnet is not as strong as apple's and is difficult to align, I bough a case with the ring built in to help.
My only big gripe is that I prefer the fingerprint sensor on the power button like previous models, not on the front touch screen like newer Samsung models. Having to press the power button or double tap the screen to wake up, then touch the front screen, and dealing with the blinding touch sensor white light at night😱.
