Attached are GeekBench scores that I ran on the phones I have/had. The 2024 Moto G Stylus has similar scores to the Samsung A54 5G. The 2025 Moto G Stylus has a faster process than the 2024 version, so it should be faster than the A54. I ordered the 2025 Stylus this morning. I will run GeekBench on it when I receive it, and post the scores.

Unfortunately, after Verizon has been relieved of its boundation to unlock devices within 60 days on Jan 20 2026, this is the easiest and cheapest way to buy a new device with decent specs that gets auto unlock (albeit after 365 days) without paying anything extra after the initial activation. From the carrier perspective it makes little sense selling the devices at steep discount without even breaking-even by making the customer pay the overly inflated telecom service, so its kind of a stretch expecting them to easily unlock the devices (within a short period of time like 60 days).
Having said that, this is slickdeals Smilie and here, one expects to get the best possible 'bang for the buck' on a given day, hence the deal. Happy to be corrected.

Would love to get this but waiting a year for unlock sucks, that is an unreasonably long wait time 😞 They really should change unlock policy back to 60 days (or less).

I wonder if this phone supports the Moto's desktop experience ReadyFor?
It does, just got mine's yesterday. I love that feature and I will always call it readyfor lol

It does not
If you're referring to the readyfor comment then surprisingly the answer is it does, weird cuz it didn't the previous years but mine's has it

Possibly to have more sales. As a customer, are you more likely to buy when there is a required minimum of 1 month or 12 months of service? More would be able to afford 1 or 2 months of service than 12. With a 2 month unlock policy they'd have my business already whereas with the current 12 month policy they do not. So that's one reason why they would.
But if you can jump ship quicker, they wouldn't sell it so cheap. Metro is a mobile service, not a phone store.

I miss the 180 day unlock days. That's how I got my last 2 phones: Moto G Stylus 5G (2023), Moto G Stylus 5G (2022). The 2023 is still working great. I gave the 2022 to my sister. Not sure what I will do for my next phone upgrade, but I don't think it will involve waiting a year to unlock.

Dang that sucks, but no, I've never purchased from them or had a previous account.
i encountered the same problem. It is most possibly your credit card. Try use a different credit card. That worked for me and then my order went through.

Wish this had a custom rom for pure android, it would be a nice little gaming device. There's just a bunch of crap on it. I bought it a few months ago
I have several of these 2025 models, have had for years back to 2021 model, and other motos prior to that. There's not a bunch of crap on it, pretty minimal compared to most devices. There's an app that fires up, that will offer to install a handful of rando games if you click it. Don't click it. Disable that. Disable the glance thing if you don't want the news on lock screen. There's not a lot more to do

It has a game mode which is great, and several other unobtrusive moto improvements that actually improve the OS, you can turn those off if you want. I have installed countless ROMS, This is closer to pure, and certainly more usable, than a lot of the goofy custom ROM mods.

The straight talk deal at xmas gave 60 day auto unlock, free phone with 2 months of service, and a free pretty great tcl tab for free with data, that was completely unlocked. Looks like they have some moto power thing over there now, I'd play around there.

People kept tweaking the deal and so did the MVNO, it wound up like two of these phones, two months of service each you could downgrade, and the free tablet, about $100. I'll see if I can find it. Anyway focus over there. No ID hassle, nothing, for me the first month with 5GUW was super fast, unlimited. The 10' tab has better specs than the 8' tcl and the sammy. Sammy required 6 months service at the time.

Looks like the final tuned package was $120 for 2 phones, tab and service, a month ago Jan 9, coupons etc for three great devices unlocked quickly

Put an alert on straight talk or just see what they have now. That deal ran a long time if its still not there. The tablet went OOS then came back. I love that tablet, got two

Edit: "Offer valid through 05/28/2026 while supplies last. Taxes and fees apply. Promotion requires new activation on a Tablet Unlimited+ Plan and a new or existing activation on single line Silver Unlimited Phone Plan or higher. Available online only. Limited to one device per account." Tablet Bundle still on, and the free phone is now Moto Power 2025 or some Sammy thing. Make sure you use the coupons in that other thread, like 2 off something, just check the thread, I think there were at least two codes people were playing with

BTW I had a Power a few years back, really liked it. Not sure how it is 2025

Good luck!

Edit2: There was some lawsuit against Verizon and or ST and that forced them to do the 60 day unlock without question or hassle. Its great. And no BS ID scamming like total wireless.

Edit4: The kicker, other than CB, is to go to chase and get 15% off up to $100 ($15). You can add a second line later and do the phone again with a second chase card. Really, hell of a deal

Does anyone know if there are still any working unlock tools that can unlock Moto phones immediately? A few months ago, there was a big hype about using some XDA forum tool to unlock Moto Razr 2024 https://slickdeals.net/f/18686347-metro-by-t-mobile-256gb-motorola-razr-2024-5g-gray-30-days-60-prepaid-plan-65-free-shipping?src=&prop=&attrsrc=#comments

And my impression is that those tools can unlock not just Razr, but also Moto G phones somehow:

Just wondering if any of those tools still work.

Even with $30 for additional 5 months ... it's going to be $150+tax extra.
Besides, from what I have heard/found online and other discussions is that in terms of being shady and notorious, ATnT/Cricket are so bad that they make Verizon and MNVOs look like 'good guys' Big Grin. No first hand experience, though.
I've had first-hand experience with Cricket for 6 years now. I've had no issues whatsoever other than a weird thing in 2021 where I didn't get data service while driving through parts of Wyoming

What's the out the door cost? I assume it's not worth porting your number over for a month and then back? That probably doesn't even make sense if you plan on continuing your existing service a month later.

I need a temperary phone while I send my current phone in for repairs. I was hoping this would work on the T-mobile network but alas. I don't qualify for a free advertised phone with my current plan. T-mobile wants me to make payments for two years to get a reduced price phone. Can't pay for it outright or pay it off early. It's a pain in the butt.
Find a used unlocked one on ebay or craigslist. This is a phone you wait on for a year, whether you continue with metro service or not.

T-Mobile unlocking policy has that provision to get their phones unlocked earlier with at least $100 refill. Metro's Unlocking Policy has no such provision.
https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...xyqYHnhG18
For reference, here's the T-Mobile unlock policy, which, as of this date, states

Unlock eligibility for mobile devices on Prepaid plans
  • At least 365 days must have passed since the device was activated on the T Mobile network.
  • If the device was activated less than 365 days ago, then the Prepaid account associated with the device must have had more than $100 in refills during that period for each line active on the account. In addition, more than 14 days must have passed since the device was purchased.
  • No more than 2 mobile device unlocks have been complete per line of service in the last 12 months.
  • T‑Mobile may request proof of purchase or additional information in its discretion and certain other exceptions may apply.

I wouldn't buy a phone just to wait one year for a unlock. Will more than likely be better deals coming along by then.
