Attached are GeekBench scores that I ran on the phones I have/had. The 2024 Moto G Stylus has similar scores to the Samsung A54 5G. The 2025 Moto G Stylus has a faster process than the 2024 version, so it should be faster than the A54. I ordered the 2025 Stylus this morning. I will run GeekBench on it when I receive it, and post the scores.

Unfortunately, after Verizon has been relieved of its boundation to unlock devices within 60 days on Jan 20 2026, this is the easiest and cheapest way to buy a new device with decent specs that gets auto unlock (albeit after 365 days) without paying anything extra after the initial activation. From the carrier perspective it makes little sense selling the devices at steep discount without even breaking-even by making the customer pay the overly inflated telecom service, so its kind of a stretch expecting them to easily unlock the devices (within a short period of time like 60 days).
Having said that, this is slickdeals Smilie and here, one expects to get the best possible 'bang for the buck' on a given day, hence the deal. Happy to be corrected.

Would love to get this but waiting a year for unlock sucks, that is an unreasonably long wait time 😞 They really should change unlock policy back to 60 days (or less).

I wouldn't buy a phone just to wait one year for a unlock. Will more than likely be better deals coming along by then.
That depends on the deal/phone:
  • I got this Moto G Stylus for $55. I will use it on WiFi for apps, media, etc.
  • I got a Metro iPhone13 on Thursday for $0 + $30 Plan (2nd line discount). There are resellers on the Internet paying $140 for it in Mint condition, locked. The profit from it more than pays for the Moto G Stylus.
  • Metro sells the Samsung S25FE for $99 + $65 Plan. I got several last October. When they're unlocked in October this year, I can easily sell them for $300+ each.

There's something strange about the IMEI of this Metro Moto G Stylus 2025. I received mine yesterday and attached are screenshots of my checking.
Using Cricket IMEI Check: 2025 model got "Something didn't work right. System Down". 2024 model is Compatible.
Using AT&T IMEI Check: 2025 model got "IMEI not found". 2024 model was recognized(i.e. Compatible).
fun. Cricket is selling their own branded version of this model through their site, so it's def 'model compatible', not that that's any guarantee with them. might just pull the trigger on this and if nothing else have a not too terrible couch gaming device / backup wifi phone for a year. i run phones until they die (moto g power 2021 still kicking but starting to struggle with app load. hoping a fact reset buys me a little longer but backup not nearly as braindead a process as it is with iphone/itunes.)

i encountered the same problem. It is most possibly your credit card. Try use a different credit card. That worked for me and then my order went through.
Thanks for the tip, was hoping this would work but no luck Frown

Very happy with this phone so far though I had a bit of difficulty getting it setup and finding my new phone number. It does indeed work with Smart Connect (tested it) which allows control of the phone via the computer or other devices. That app also lets you use the onboard cameras including the 32 megapixel front camera which looks great. Very impressive phone for the price.. Given that it supposedly has eSim functionality as well (unable to test), this would make a great travel phone when it unlocks in a year.

The straight talk deal at xmas gave 60 day auto unlock, free phone with 2 months of service, and a free pretty great tcl tab for free with data, that was completely unlocked. Looks like they have some moto power thing over there now, I'd play around there. People kept tweaking the deal and so did the MVNO, it wound up like two of these phones, two months of service each you could downgrade, and the free tablet, about $100. I'll see if I can find it. Anyway focus over there. No ID hassle, nothing, for me the first month with 5GUW was super fast, unlimited. The 10' tab has better specs than the 8' tcl and the sammy. Sammy required 6 months service at the time.Looks like the final tuned package was $120 for 2 phones, tab and service, a month ago Jan 9, coupons etc for three great devices unlocked quicklyFP:https://slickdeals.net/f/19019773-2-pk-straight-talk-moto-g-stylus-2025-w-1-mo-plan-tcl-tab-10-nxtpa...Variant:https://slickdeals.net/f/19079815-2-pk-straight-talk-moto-g-stylus-2025-w-1-mo-plan-tcl-tab-8-nxtpap...EDIT 3: And down to $105 as I remembered, for one phone and tab and service, actually I just tested the deal since I love the hell out of it, still works with code 2LINE15OFFTCL Tab 10 NXTPaper 5G (6GB)Tablet Unlimited+ Plan Unlimitedmoto g power - 2025Was $99.99 now $FREESilver Unlimited30 DaysUnlimited Data*Was $45 per month now $42.50 per month$42.50/moSubTotal $424.98Discount-$317.49Shipping FREEOrder Total $107.49https://slickdeals.net/f/18872887-straight-talk-moto-g-stylus-2025-w-1-mo-silver-unlimited-plan-tcl-...Put an alert on straight talk or just see what they have now. That deal ran a long time if its still not there. The tablet went OOS then came back. I love that tablet, got twoEdit: "Offer valid through 05/28/2026 while supplies last. Taxes and fees apply. Promotion requires new activation on a Tablet Unlimited+ Plan and a new or existing activation on single line Silver Unlimited Phone Plan or higher. Available online only. Limited to one device per account." Tablet Bundle still on, and the free phone is now Moto Power 2025 or some Sammy thing. Make sure you use the coupons in that other thread, like 2 off something, just check the thread, I think there were at least two codes people were playing with BTW I had a Power a few years back, really liked it. Not sure how it is 2025Good luck!Edit2: There was some lawsuit against Verizon and or ST and that forced them to do the 60 day unlock without question or hassle. Its great. And no BS ID scamming like total wireless.Edit4: The kicker, other than CB, is to go to chase and get 15% off up to $100 ($15). You can add a second line later and do the phone again with a second chase card. Really, hell of a deal
I ordered a phone very recently when they had 60 day unlock, but most of those particular orders got canceled, so I lost out. I'm guessing they canceled knowing soon Verizon would have a 1 year unlock just like T-Mobile and AT&T.

Probably not. They'll all need 1 year to unlock. By the time you see that deal, you're gonna wish you did this one.

Sorry new to this, to activate phone with a new line, do you just turn device on or does it come with a SIM CARD kit that you have to activate?

This Moto G Stylus comes with a SIM card. Put the SIM into the phone, then go to Metro web site, scroll down to the VERY BOTTOM and click on Activate. It will ask for your order number, last name, zip code, then locate your order for activation. It will show what your new phone number is. After that, to log into your Metro account you'll need to enter the new phone number, and the account PIN that you chose when ordering. Then it will text a security code to your phone for you to enter to login.

For those that are having failed orders / cancellations -- Does the order submission fail immediately or do you get an email with cancelled status quickly after or did it get a pending charge and just never ship?
I placed an order 2 days ago and it was supposed to ship Friday and arrive Tuesday, but it hasn't changed status at all. Credit card got billed $55 exactly immediately. Order status still shows supposed to have shipped 2 days ago but still in Processing.
I last did this with the Moto G Stylus 5G 2023 version exactly 2 years ago, and have never done any other Metro/T-Mobile ordering any other times. Is it typical that it is just paused or is it silently cancelled ?

If you just let it sit for a year waiting for unlock won't the battery degrade?

The battery will lose some power during storage but you can always recharge it. The battery doesn't degrade if the phone is stored in a cool, dry place. Those new-in-sealed-box iPhone13's that Metro is selling were made in 2021 or 2022 and come with perfect batteries.

LOL. You activate it, use it once to ensure binding to service, turn it off. Battery will be perfectly fine in a year.

Or you turn it on, use it like a real phone for a month, then after 30 days you use it like a WiFi - only enabled tablet for the next 11 months, charging it as needed. A year later it just becomes unlocked automatically.

I have a couple 8-10 yr old phones that still have 30% battery after turning them off with ~60% for best battery storage when I check them every couple years.

I have too of these with a TCL Tab10 NXTPapers 5g from StraightTalk for turning them into gifts once they're unlocked.
In addition, I have two iphone 16e (Free with $100 giftcards) for collection and trade-in next year. It's just a hobby of passive investment while the phones serve as spare devices.
Hi Skyway I need one iPhone I see 13 is on dea where can I get 16 thanks
