About this Item:
  • "Let's leave this town together," asks Shuichi Saito, a former classmate of Kirie Goshima, a high school girl who was born and grew up in Kurouzu-cho. Everything from a strange whirlwind, billowing smoke from the crematorium, and the residents is turning into spirals. People's eyes spin in whirls, a tongue spirals, and the bodies twist unnaturally. In an attempt to escape the curse of the spirals, Kirie decides to flee from Kuouzu-cho, but can she get away from this turmoil? This is the Anime adaptation of "Uzumaki" - one of the most internationally renowned horror masterpieces by the manga artist Junji Ito, which foreshadows the oppressive atmosphere of modern society and its disparities! Everything in this town is turning into spirals! In an attempt to escape the curse of the spirals, a high school girl Kirie decides to leave her hometown, but can she succeed? A horror manga masterpiece is finally transformed into Anime!

Only the first episode is good. The rest, the animation quality falls off a cliff. Plenty of stories about changing studios and rushing the animators. Buyer beware. Can only recommend if you want the steelbook VERY badly.

Not worth it. The anime does a huge disservice to the manga.

Read/watch some reviews before buying this. It's not very well received. I'm sure there are folks who enjoy it, and if you're one of them, this is a great deal. But if you haven't seen it yet, and you're buy because you're a fan of Junji Ito's manga, you might be disappointed.

Came for the cool plot summary. Left empty-handed because of the comments. 🙁

Saw this during the toonami cn run. Artistry was amazing but the stories didn't make a whole lot of sense. Kind of wished they kept it alive though.

Even if you don't read Manga it's a phenomenal must read. It's fairly disturbing body horror it if you were into the summary it's very worth a read. Even an ebook if you don't want to buy it.

I have all of his books including the new ones on preorder but yeah, they absolutely butchered it with any adaptations they've tried to do. I'm not huge on anime or manga but when I find ones I love I really love them.

Episode 1 of this series was 10/10. The rest was unfortunately rushed. Would recommend buying the manga.

Only episode 1 was good and full anime is only 4 episodes. Who the heck is paying $23 for only 4 anime episodes.

Oh, I thought this was the movie, the one from 2000 directed by Higuchinsky. I haven't read the manga yet, but that movie is a pretty damn good surreal black comedy-horror...thing.

I ate an edible and binge watched this entire series. I loved it. I give credit to all the spirals. Comments make me think it would have sucked sober...
