This bundle pairs a Ryzen 7 9850X3D with 32GB of DDR5 and a keyboard and mouse, and the strongest draw is the CPU value. The X3D chip is described as less sensitive to RAM speed than regular Zen 5 parts, so the CL36 memory should not hurt gaming much, and the package still pencils out well against current CPU and RAM prices. The main knocks are that the RAM is slower than ideal for a gaming rig, the chip runs hotter, and nearby Micro Center bundles include a motherboard for about $50 more. A solid near term combo if you want the processor and memory more than the extras.

you can probably sell the ryzen 9850x3D for around 400 on fb mktplace. that makes it $200 for the mouse/kb and RAM (no one gives a crap about the game)

CL36 RAM is on the slower side for a gaming rig. Odd to pair it with an x3d CPU meant for gaming. That said, this is a bargain.

Looks like X3D CPUs deliver top-tier performance even with low speed DDR5 - no EXPO, XMP, or memory overclocking needed. Per Tom's Hardware..

The x3d chips aren't super picky about ram speed though, unlike the regular Zen 5 chips.

Thanks for the link. It has info I didn't know.

That said, they're discussing the clock speed of the RAM. The CL36 refers to the timings which the article doesn't mention except indirectly.

"Both of those are very generous estimates, as we were able to find a 32GB DDR5-6000 kit for "just" $325.99 on Amazon, though it's CL36. A similarly spec'd CL30 kit is $354 on Newegg."

The wording implies timings still matter, but it would have been nice if they addressed this directly.

Regardless, thanks for sharing the article.

People said the same thing about $1000+ gpu's and they still sell faster than can be stocked. No one's going to abandon PC's if they have to pay an extra couple hundred for some ram.

Most people won't notice the difference in any real gaming situation. Actually, I'll go as far to say that if you got this bundle no one will notice how you're missing the 1-2fps from a slightly faster ram when gaming. When running a benchmark for a score, sure.

* moving to the cloud. All that hardware they are buying up will need to be used for something, cloud gaming, cloud pc, cloud phone. Hope the bubble doesn't last long enough for all pc retail part manufactures to die off.
