Looks like X3D CPUs deliver top-tier performance even with low speed DDR5 - no EXPO, XMP, or memory overclocking needed. Per Tom's Hardware..

you can probably sell the ryzen 9850x3D for around 400 on fb mktplace. that makes it $200 for the mouse/kb and RAM (no one gives a crap about the game)

CL36 RAM is on the slower side for a gaming rig. Odd to pair it with an x3d CPU meant for gaming. That said, this is a bargain.

The x3d chips aren't super picky about ram speed though, unlike the regular Zen 5 chips.

Thanks for the link. It has info I didn't know.

That said, they're discussing the clock speed of the RAM. The CL36 refers to the timings which the article doesn't mention except indirectly.

"Both of those are very generous estimates, as we were able to find a 32GB DDR5-6000 kit for "just" $325.99 on Amazon, though it's CL36. A similarly spec'd CL30 kit is $354 on Newegg."

The wording implies timings still matter, but it would have been nice if they addressed this directly.

Regardless, thanks for sharing the article.

People said the same thing about $1000+ gpu's and they still sell faster than can be stocked. No one's going to abandon PC's if they have to pay an extra couple hundred for some ram.
