Does anyone have any experience with this keyboard, and possibly a comparison to the older Microsoft natural keyboard design (now discontinued)? In my experience the layout of the Microsoft keyboard is superior to what I have seen on the market now.

In my experience, the keyboard is way too compressed. The small keys and short distance between them makes it very easy to accidentally hit 2 keys at once compared to regular keyboards. I don't have experience with any Microsoft ergonomic keyboards but I have a Logitech Wave that is miles ahead of this.

I used to love the old Microsoft ergonomic keyboards, and now I'm using a Logitech K350 which I love.

It looks like Logitech came out with an updated version, but I haven't tried that yet:

Got it several month ago, use it daily.
  1. It's a good device, behaves as expected, even under furious typing load ("furious" = 75+ wpm bursts, not force from slamming lol)
  2. Key action is soft, in the same group as, but a little stiffer than, the old MS ergo boards. Definitely not crisp w/ a sharp break like the clackety boards. (Can't find in ergo config at any price anymore.)
  3. As to the bad reviews, after seeing problems w/ the reviewers, decided to give it a try, and glad I did. (Always review the reviewers - some are less-ron opposites lol.)
  4. Paid this price when I bought. It fluctuates, as seen is the tracking, so if missed this time, just wait until price drops again.
  5. For value on a respectable ergo board, I've found none better.

I also loved the Microsoft Naturals. Went through a couple of them.
If you are looking for a good wireless ergo keyboard, check out the Logitech. I have been using them several years and, while not identical layout, they are very easy to get used to. I just bought another one as they are on sale at $105 (regular $149). Obviously much more expensive than the one in this post but worth it.

I've tried multiple replacements for the MS Natural 4000. The MS Sculpt...their own 'ergonomic keyboard'. The OEM markets them directly now. Thus far, neither compared to the higher pitch and key travel depth of the original that I've gotten used to for almost a decade.

As a result, I went back to the 4000, with it's peeling wristrest and faded keys. The replacements are insufficient enough that I would literally prefer typing on the built in keyboard on my ThinkPad than switch.

The search continues...

I got just the keyboard (no mouse) a couple months ago, which was meant to replace the Microsoft sculpt, which I've used for over 10 years. This in comparison has very soft and mushy keys. I was not a fan of the lack of feedback. But the wrist comfort was very good, and the keys are very quiet. I wound up returning it. Considering a Logitech K860 instead

The new wave is awful. I had the K350 as well, using it for over 15 years. My last one broke in December after over 5 years of use. I have an old MK710 I am using now. I tried the new wave, the wrist rest is nice, but the keys are terrible. They are compressed and you keep hitting the wrong keys. Especially if you use Ctrl, Alt, or the ~ buttons, you are going to hate life. The feel is very cheap too. Almost like they used half the plastic thickness. I returned it.

I was so glad I bought extra when it was on sale.
can't find a better fit.

25+ year MS 4000 user - My job ordered this Kensington keyboard for me and while I cannot say I hate it, I definitely do not like it. To the point where I've contemplated bringing in one of my personal MS4000's to use at work. As others mentioned it's way too compressed. I cannot tell you how many times I've opened the calculator when trying to either backspace or print screen. Other than being way too compressed, it's okay.
