FWIW, I think this same rack set came with my 150 lb DB set. I was planning to omit the 5 pounders it came with and I have no use for then move everything else up a tier. My goal was add a 30 or 35 pound set if DB. But no matter how I tried to work it out I could not add more weight without making it functionally unusable...or they just might not fit. You could kinda store the weights like that, but then they are more staking on each other, not really being held by the rack (which could be dangerous if you had kids or pets). And you have to remove EVERY upper weight to access a lower one.

*my weights are padded hex dumbbells as pictured.

I do think I could store a pair of 30-35 lb DB's in the middle gap (one on the floor)...which is probably what I'll end up doing.
