If that's the motherboard it comes with (Asus prime b550) this is not junk.

That said I want off this timeline where AM4 is desirable again due to cost. I say this while still running a 5950X and recently built systems with the 5500, 5600G and 5700X.

I mean no disrespect to the OP and his efforts. But I just don't get it. TUs keep going higher on this deal. I just don't see what can possibly excite people into paying $630 for this configuration? Can't be the CPU or the GPU. It's gotta be the RGBs that make up for the abysmal performance.

From what I understand it's not the worst thing. It's not like 5000 series CPUs are even a little slow. It'd definitely be a lot worse if CPUs like the 5600 were horrid

Atp I would say it's just the fact that this build exists at this price. Wouldn't cost much to flip the CPU and GPU and put more capable parts in; even a 5070 would turn this into an excellent piece of kit

Haven't shopped PC parts lately I see.

You can't build a comparable PC for this price.

The am4 5500 is old but serviceable but the 6500XT is slooooow. Hell an old 3060 will blow it away.

Well of course, the 6500xt isn't even a comparable tier product to the rtx3060.
Also, you say "old" 3060, but I've seen reports that Nvidia is going to be bringing the 3060 back and offering it again early 2026 so around this time.

"Even" a $640 (now) GPU, more than the cost of this entire machine, plus a decent cpu to pair with it that's going to run you $200-$230, would turn it into a good PC? You don't say!

What makes it worse is the 5500 only supports PCIe 3.0 and the 6500XT gets a serious performance hit on PCIe 3.0 making it even slower.

Very good. Shout out. I did not realize that as the Ryzen 5 5600 does. Very odd restriction.
