SVS Sound Outlet online store has the SB-1000 powered subwoofer with 12" high-excursion driver in piano gloss for a low $399.99 with 5-year warranty as part of their President's Day sale. This is a great subwoofer that punches above its weight class if you are looking for musical accuracy. Includes a DSP to maintain accuracy at different volume levels.

Note that this is not the SB-1000 Pro which is the current model that sells for $699. The main differences are app control and slightly increased rms and peak output on the newer SB-1000 Pro. They sound very similar.

Purchased one to add to a 2.1 system for music. 5% discount on the purchase of two at the same time.

Once limited quantity deals like this make it to Slickdeals they do tend to run out quickly πŸ™‚. I believe that the sale started in the morning so it was available for ~11 hrs. Not sure if they have additional quantities since they no longer sell this particular subwoofer, but there is an option to be notified if additional quantities become available during the sale.

This came back in stock this morning; ordered a couple. Don't think it will last long though. Whoever is waiting, get it while it lasts.

This is the original SB1000 which was discontinued years ago.

The current model is the SB1000 PRO, which is a distinct improvement. Over on the AVS forum, we see plenty of complaints by folks who bought the SB1000 for its compactness and pretty looks, but if they were in anything larger than a small enclosed bedroom (e.g. an open plan living room) they often complained of inadequate output.

Be advised that the RSL Speedwoofer 10e/10S is only a few inches larger but in the same price range and offers much more output due to their vented cabinets. A sealed sub like the SB series is sometimes preferred for MUSIC, but at the entry level size and price/power range, often is inadequate for HT where you need a bit more "oomph" if you're a big action movies fan.

If you're dead set on SVS for some reason, do not have a small enclosed room, and mostly do HT not music, the PB1000 Pro is well worth paying the extra couple hundred for.

Two of these will probably work well in a 5.2.2 HT or 7.2.4 HT. Room size and the ability to correct for the room with a system like Audyssey or Dirac both matter. If one is more interested in impressing people with boosted LFE like the "whomp whomp" of helicopter blades and explosions then this sub is probably not for you. FWIW my 7.2.4 HT has two SB-3000s and Audyssey XT32 turned them way down. Ported subs often trade off accuracy for boosted LFE. If you are like me and want your system to play accurate bass lines from music like jazz then this is a great sub, just like its big brother, the SB-3000

LOL if this was me you would immediately have the usual several people DV & go on a rant about being clueless, sealed for HT the blasphemy!!!

I got impatient and gambled, upgrading mine to the new Revolution series!
People can say what they want about SVS but they lead on innovative!!!
It's a significant overhaul and improvement to the 3000!

Experimented most of the weekend, should finish today.
FWIW mine is 5.2.4 using D-ART.

The SB3000 is far far better than the SB1000 (although a Hsu ULS15 is imo a better buy for a sealed sub for less money than the SB3000) and is really no basis of comparison for the SB1000. That would be like saying, "I own a Ford Mustang GT and it's great so yeah, that means the Ford Fiesta is a nice car too." πŸ™„

For HT, yes it's sheer oomph with the explosions and other similar LFE that folks are looking for, not for transient speed and finesse which matters much more in undistracted music listening where a sealed sub usually has an advantage.

Well if you believe you can just tuck a sub into a corner then you're not really worried about the quality of that "oomph". Us that do understand that, footprint matters. That HSU is quite a big bigger than the 1000. Just because it's bigger doesn't automatically mean it's better for some.

The Hsu is 18x18x18" vs 13.5x13x15" for the SB1000. A lousy 5" wider/taller would only matter to someone who's truly a prisoner of WAF.

For the WAF prisoners, the RSL 10e/10s would still kick the s*** out of the SB1000 at 16.8x15x15 at just 2-3" wider/taller.

Either way, SVS is a craptastic price to performance option even when on "sale" pricing to normal non-OCD non-audiophools who WATCH movies instead of sphincter-flexing LISTENING to them.

Like I said prior if you just want to tuck a sub into a corner on a budget.
Yes the 10e/s will rattle your windows and walls.

Thats not quality oomph imo, to each their own.

The Hsu ULS-15 Mk2 is a fantastic sealed subwoofer for the price, but it weighs 65 lbs and occupies 3.64 cubic ft of volume vs. the SB-3000 at 54.5 lbs and 2.1 cubic ft of volume. I considered both and prefer the SB-3000. SVS is also a larger, better managed & more stable company overall IMO. To each their own.

I would agree but people have had that mindset for decades! I listened/audition the SB5000R and truly the 1st 15" that was impressive. So much so I truly considered switching. Ultimately footprint wouldn't work the extra oomph was not worth the cost. How they put all that in the 3000 is just impressive!!!
