Just keep an eye on pricing at Samsung direct "Renewed" listings. They replace the battery and glass screen. You realistically get a new phone for same price or slightly more. These ebay fake refurbished deals are a scam. Nothing is refurbished. They cleaned the refried beans crusties from the screen? oh boy so worth it now.

This is the phone I currently own. Hate the curved edges and screen breaks very easily. I regret the phone.

Used. Old battery, scuffed display, dirty ports.

A huge leap going from S21 to S23
(that's the real generational gap)
Noticeable but modest gains to S25
(refined experience)
Tiny bump to S26
(only noticeable in benchmarks or edge tasks)

Next year will be the last android update for the S23. So you will be in the same position as your S22 currently. Starting with the S24, Samsung upped the game from four to seven years of updates.

The camera quality is similar since S21/22 series. Even S25 family isn't life-changing. I'm not texting to AI crap or routine processor upgrades. The core camera system has barely changed, and they keep using old 5000mah batteries. Meanwhile others are moving to 6000-8000mah. Cameras on foreign phones are outpacing Samsung.

Samsung is lazy and complacent. The Ultra line is no longer a showcase of their best. Just rehashed ideas.

Umm Android has barely changed in a meaningful way the past few updates. 15 and 16 were not major leaps for the platform. 17 will be another minor entry, like how windows does H updates to Windows 11.

Yes I know 17 will allegedly have performance changes and app sizing improvements (why not patches for 16??). But why can't these be 16.2 or an incremental number? Can't you see how they wrap these changes into a big OS update to justify fewer lifetime updates...16 was minor and cost every Android owner one OS update, despite launching not long after 15.

I agree to a point; the curved edges make it difficult to apply a screen protector, but that would be the only reason to not like the curved edges. I mostly don't notice any other time.

Loved the curved edge before but over the years, it felt like it wasn't worth it compared to the flat screen. Hardly used edge features and I never was able to get a glass screen protector that fit the phone perfectly. This was the only reason I upgraded from s23 ultra to s24 ultra. Now I get to enjoy a good screen protector that is not just a plastic which has saved my phone's screen few times when I accidentally dropped it.

Who'd buy a phone that has scratches and dents on the front and back, corners smashed, dirty ports, possibly bad pixels, cracks, etc..??
