Yeah just food for thought here...
Whenever I post about value or perception with refurbished items I get a down vote but I'll take the chance. You don't need a 1000W power supply with any PC unless you're using something like a 5080 / 5090. An 850W runs fine with a 5080. Speaking from experience as I ran an RM850x with a 5080 FE. Also I'm not sold on future proofing with a part like this as it's not worth the savings vs wear and team unless you plan an upgrade of the PC in the very near future. Either way do you want to run multi-hundred or thousand dollar GPUs on a refurbished power supply? The truth of it is you don't know what the history of the component is. Spend 30-50 dollars more, which is a fraction of the GPU cost, and get a new one with a better warranty from a different and reputable brand or get a new 850W Corsair, if it's 5080 or sub, for a cost closer to this is my advice.

Just say no to a power supply with a 90 day warranty.
I don't care that it's Corsair refurbished.

Ones target power supply capacity should be 50-55% of sustained load. As I followed sales here and elsewhere I have a 5950X and 6800XT that I got for $780 in total. Those two components are maxed out (130-145W CPU, 280-300W GPU) when playing a modern gaming such as Arc Raiders. Add in 4 NVMe, 9 total fans and an AIO pump that means sustained load is about 525W, with brief jumps to 750w+. That's the exact amount one needs for a 1000W power supply.

I bought the XPG Cybercore 1000w Platinum (A+ tier) that was on here not long for $80. The coil whine on my 6800XT is lessened with it. I replaced a Seasonic GM850 Gold, which is A rated on the tier list and is no slouch.

If that killed your 850 seasonic, you got a bad one. Target 80%, not 50%. My 850W w/ AIO pump, 9 fans, plenty of RGB, 12700, RAM, Carbon MSI 5080, multiple USBs plugged in, 2x NVMe doesn't even flinch at the load.

I'm now using the Seasonic in a build I just made for the wife (Ryzen 5500/GTX1080). It worked just fine but there's a noticeable difference when I am running LLMs on my GPU now. The coil whine I've heard for years is diminished. In the build it's in now it is almost overkill but I'd rather put a quality unit like it than junk.

It's not a refurb, it's more like b-stock. Offering a shorter warranty lets them drop the price and it's still better than buying a used PSU off ebay or marketplace.
IDK about the rest of you but I've personally never had a PSU die on me. I even had an old ULTRA back in the day that lasted over 10yrs bouncing from system to system.

If the units don't fail, why would a shorter warranty let them lower the price?

A- tier Sama G1000 is 93$ at newegg and you get a 5 year warranty. I got it a couple weeks ago for 90. Just keep tracking the price and it will fall back to that or even below that for sure. Don't buy a power supply with a 90 day warranty.

The first run of this 2025 version of these power supplies had fans that would click under high load. These are probably units that were sent back for that because they did a replacement program. Hope they fixed the clicking fans.
