2-piece checked/large (19"/28") in nova teal is also $140.

Medium bags are sort of weird as they can't be carry on and don't maximize your checked bag allowance.

Medium bags have their uses, such like one week travel. If you gonna carry a full size luggage close to 50 lbs (or higher) you don't want one with zipper anyway

I agree; even the three-piece deal last month (January) was better than Black Friday.However, I've been traveling internationally with this model for years and it has still held up well. The outer shell can get scuffed up easily and become noticeable if it's a lighter color.

They're good for European air travel where you're limited to 44 lbs. Plus, if you're a proficient packer, you can still fit plenty of weight in a smaller bag, but it'll be easier to maneuver. I don't like using the larger bags unless I absolutely need the room.
