It's an odd product but I am very tempted. I have an induction stove top and I ended up dropping something that hit the edge and created a chip. That chip grew into a crack across the entire left side and I had to pay ~$300 to get the part to fix it myself. In theory this could help prevent that in the future if I can make myself put it into place religiously.

Only a DUMOS would place a wooden shelf over a box that makes fire.

Seems very niche. I feel like this would just eat up a ton of counterspace whenever you need to cook

The metal handles are there to heat up to make sure that you have an equal opportunity to burn something on induction.
Even if they were made of a ferrous metal, way too far away from the surface.

🤦 ♂️🤦 ♂️🤦 ♂️

It was a joke. I don't think they actually designed the handles in there to give an equal opportunity for induction cooktops to burn something.

The traditional purpose of this product is to increase available counter space for large kitchen tasks, such as making noodles from scratch which is why it's called a "Noodle Board". There are similar products that fit over sinks for even more available counter space or little tables that you can roll to the end of your counter if you really want to go all out. Rustic looks and marginal protection of your stove is just a side effect, these have been on the market for a very long time. While I don't make old-timey noodles from scratch very often, I do find this very useful to serve smoked meats or pizzas to the family while reserving my main countertops for side dishes, drinks, plates and whatnot. To keep clean I just take a wet towel and wipe it down, then let air dry. I store mine on the floor propped against the wall when using the stove and yes, absolutely make sure your stove is off and cool to the touch before you put it back on. If you can't trust yourself to not unexpectedly turn on your stove and burn down your house then maybe this product is not for you.

This particular deal seems reasonable but grab a tape measure and check the dimensions of your stove to make sure it fits. If you've ever shopped for a kitchen stove, there are some standard sizes but not all are the same. This seems like a reasonable price for a generic noodle board, I spend about $100 in 2023 for a similar one made from reclaimed wood and blackpipe handles.

I went with the silicon mat cover route instead of this. This looks really nice, but I like being able to simply roll up the thick silicon mat and put it in the pantry when not needed.

The purpose of this is to create more counterspace when you're not cooking.
If you're cooking then just put it away.

I'm surprised that this doesn't have feet of some kind to raise it off the stove surface. I used to have a similar board that was designed for use in RVs, and I used it to cover a little ("apartment-sized") glass-top stove. It had rubber feet that I was able to position so they didn't touch any of the burners. I always waited for the stove to cool down before putting it back, but just in case one of the knobs somehow got accidentally twisted or left on or something, at least nothing was directly touching. I'd probably be too paranoid to leave this sitting directly on the surface.

I had almost no counter space in that kitchen, and literally no counter on either side of the stove (it was awkwardly placed between two doorways), so it was nice to have the extra space just to set things down at all when I wasn't cooking. If you have a big kitchen, I can't see this being any more useful than a silicone mat to keep the stove clean.

I did see one with feet that's sized for a normal stove, for just four bucks more. I can't vouch for it or anything, but hey, it exists! (The feet might be kinda tall; I think mine were lower.) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FRLJGGH3

So let me get this straight.

This is a wooden FLAMMABLE cover....for a stovetop. A device that literally emits flame & heat (well, flame might be optional if you use a newfangled sparky stove versus a normal gas stove).

Sounds like a great idea. Is Kiddie having a sale on fire extinguishers too?

You're missing the value of this. I can put this wooden shelf on top of the oven before I put my gas cans for the lawn mower on top of the board so the cans don't damage the oven.

How do you clean something like this? It's so big that it appears the water would go everywhere if you sprayed/washed it by the sink.
Bathtub or shower?

Why, don't you have a double-wide utility sink?
