This is a very big deal. Once you port GV number to Metro, you will NOT be able to get a new Google Voice numbers, unless you undergo an identity verification check which needs physical ID upload and physical address as well. So maybe porting Google Voice numbers away isn't a great idea if you plan to get another number.
Surprisingly I was immediately able to get 2 new GV numbers on accounts I ported by using new verification phone numbers. No identity check required.

Friendly warning: Google has recently changed its policy on new GV numbers. See this Reddit post below:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Googlevo...efore_you/
I only found out about it this morning when I tried to get new GV numbers on a couple of existing accounts but was asked to upload ID documents. I think I had had GV numbers on these accounts before Metro disallowed them for promos over a year ago but didn't bother to set up new numbers.
As posted in another thread, GV numbers may take long to be ported in and you may have to call Metro to speed up the process. My first Metro order is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I have activated the line without any problem, but my GV number is still active and there's no email from Google about it being ported out. I can't login to my Metro account as my GV number is not getting the verification code, not until the port-in is complete.

oh crap. my iphone is coming tomorrow too. Also ported my spare gv number.

i haven't bought a phone from Metro since 2023 moto g stylus. I forgot what it's like to use a metro account.

it sucks that we can't even login to metro with an email address. This is reetarded

Since google voice and visible won't work anymore, what's the cheapest way to port in for metro nowadays?

EDIT: after reading the comments on this thread, I see that many people are reporting that a google voice number can be ported over to metro again (like the good old days).

Verizon has add a second number for only $10. Add it and then port it in.

When did you do this? Was it before Jan 30th?
As per Google official page, after Jan 30th, identity verification will be needed per below:

I saw that and the Reddit announcement but I got the numbers last week without ID verification.

In my experience MVNO SIMs work in carrier phones like cricket into AT&T but AT&T SIMs won't work in MVNO SIMs like a cricket branded phone.

Maybe that isn't true anymore but it was 10 years ago.

Bought this deal thanks. They also have the 16e for $99 + $55 for one month. If you keep it for 3 months they give you a $99 gift card. I think I will just do the month and store it in a drawer for the year.
As someone in another thread stated cricket has a similar deal for the 16e...price is $49.99 but it needs 2mos of service at $60...so total cost is around $170 vs the $150 here but it unlocks in 6mos.

I did this metro deal with a ported out straighttalk number for a Samsung s25 fe.

How do you like the s25 fe? My s23 fe has bad battery life.
