Your GV phone number is the account number.

What happens if I never activate and complete the port in before trading into Google? Would there be any charge back from Metro?

I can't even complete a single order. The first order itself didn't work. Tried with both me and other members of the household. Just get an error at the last step "Please contact us to complete your order. Your security is important to us. Unfortunately can't complete your order online.".
Trying to transfer a google voice number which is unlocked. Tried from different computers and browsers.
Any idea on what could be causing this? Thanks.
Placing Metro orders is a bit like spinning a wheel of fortune. You just never know. Visible numbers worked best for me before. Sometimes a new IP address can help. Try to enter a new MAC address in the WAN settings of your router (not the modem) and reboot 1-2. You'll likely get a new IP address from your ISP.

They are a TMobile MVNO so you can't use that number for this deal.

If it automatically unlocks after 6 months I'm going for it. Thanks so much for all the comments, which were really useful.
If you mean the phone then it's 1 year to unlock.

did they completely lock the ability to port using google voice number now? after i got my first one, it has been impossible for me to do a second one. i used the same credit card, didn't work, called in and they did it and said my credit card declined. then i had to get patched over to porting for them to remove it. i did it immediately after with a new credit card and it completely lock me out in the account from adding new line. then i called and they said it was due to a porting issue so they removed it and it went back to normal on the site. then i went to the store and they said it cost 100 for the phone. then i went home and did it again with a new credit card and it told me to call in again. i was dreaming and salivating on doing it 3 time to get a free apple watch but now it's f ed. anyone got a solution?

After wasting one hour yesterday and TWO hours today on the phone, I can attest that agents most likely won't do better. I think they're not informed of whatever security measures implemented nor do they have the ability to override them. Unless you're a completely new customer to Metro, it's useless to call. If you can order more than 3, consider yourself lucky.
more than 3? i cant even get my second one.

My 2nd and 3rd one were gv. my order went through with no problem. I stay off Wi-Fi when ordering.
i dont understand why wifi even matters. you're adding a line, why would it have to be for yourself, it can be for anyone in your family. why even set up this offer and then gate it off like this when people try to add a line.
