Genuine leather is genuine leather. No mention of quality is no mention of quality. For $10, I doubt it's top of the line, but it IS genuine leather.

That's a misunderstanding of the term perpetuated by that Rose Anvil guy. Genuine leather just means it's made of leather. Could be good quality (full grain), could be bad, could be really bad (bonded leather and leatherboard are technically "genuine leather"). It's the broadest category that encompasses all leather products, not a specific quality tier.

The reason the label is sometimes associated with poor quality leather is if you're selling a leather product with no other redeeming qualities that would elevate it, such as full grain, you would typically just slap the generic genuine leather label on it. But there's nothing stopping high quality products from being labeled genuine leather either, if the manufacturer doesn't think additional labels are necessary. For example high end leather handbags might just say "genuine leather" in the description for the materials, because most consumers don't care about having a full grain leather bag or whatever.
