Not a bad deal for a 4090 in the large 18 inch size. Still capable of playing every game on the market at high settings and looking great. I don't like the fact that it gets hotter than most of the other 18 inch laptops, but it doesn't throttle, so I'd expect 2-3 good years out of it. If you use a decent cooling pad, I think it would extend the life by another year or 2. However I feel 5 years is a out the max if you want to stay on top of the latest games.

2-3yrs? Sounds like a very bad investment if you literally feel that way. I don't see a reason to always play the latest and greatest but who am I to tell. Not a hardcore gamer so I'm always playing 'older' games where they're heavily discounted along with not needing to worry constantly updating your pc. The PC industry is just milking you, man. I bet they have it strategized out so new games require modern pc's else they'll go out of business. Damn expensive if you want to be up to date.

RTX 4090 laptops in 2026 are a Terrible deal at ~$2,000.

Same 16 GB as a 5080, but on slower GDDR6, pulls more watts, and still loses or barely ties in FPS.

And that's before you factor in the power‑hungry, thermal‑throttling i9‑14900HX versus the much cooler, faster Ultra 9 275HX.

Most serious gamers replace their laptops every 3 years. I am in a guild with nearly 500 active members and many of them play 7 days a week. I personally replace mine about every 3 years as well. You have to, to stay competitive in high end gaming.

It would be a terrible deal if it were smaller than 18 inches, but for that size it's a great deal! I just bought a 5090 and it was almost $5000 in the 18 inch model. Even a 16 inch 5090 would set you back $3000-3200. There is a reason people buy the 18 inch, it doesn't sound that much bigger but sitting next to my 16 inch laptop, it is VERY noticeable. I prefer 18 inch for home gaming and 16 inch for traveling.

To put this deal into perspective, most other 18 inch 5090's are averaging 4200-4500. Some models can go higher, like the Legion at $5149, but it's sold out. So 2k for the 4090 is a great deal. Consider the 5090 only gives on average about 10-12% better frame rate and 20% better performance when playing in 4k and you realize the 4090 is still going strong. Look at benchmarks for top tier games and it's still crushing it.

However, like I said, this brand and model does get a bit hotter than most of the others, so keep that in mind and use a laptop cooler.
