Oh man... Getting ready to pull the trigger on the Hsu VTF-TN1. Anyone have opinions for a large home theater that will only be used for movies?

The HSU and the Monolith 13 are both very reputable subwoofers but there are a lot of good options out there. You've already provided that this will be used for mostly if not exclusively movies. Other factors would be your room size and budget.

That TN-1 or its brother the VTF-3 is the sweet spot for HT subs in the $1200-1400 range. Between Hsu and Monolith, if you had the bad luck to get a lemon you would get better service after the sale with Hsu because they are a small family business specializing only in subs (they do have speakers but those are more of a side product than their main moneymaker) ... I've seen horror stories of folks having to ship back the entire sub to Monoprice (a massive general consumer-electronics vendor) just to replace a friend amp whereas a company like Hsu, RSL, or SVS would just send you the amp and you can DIY swap it out yourself.
