I suppose the price has to be low because everybody has cellular phones with timers in them.

Those multi-timers are very useful in kitchen. I have a few OXO 3-timer timer, but for $5/2 timers this is definitely a steal.

Isn't it easier just to tell your phone to set as many timers or alarms as you want? you don't have to look at it, nor touch it to turn it off… I'm trying to think if there's a use case where this would be better? And how long would three AAA batteries last, it's a hassle to change batteries

Yeah if you're by yourself, having your timer on your phone is usually easiest since you have it on you and naturally take it with you when you leave the room. Some people may have an Alexa/Google assistant in their kitchen too.

Though, if you're in a household and want a timer everyone will hear, the stove timer is usually best. If you need a second/third timer in a busy kitchen, having an extra on the fridge like this could be useful.

The 90s were 30 years ago? 🤨 I was thinking the 70s.

Kitchen timers are one of the best reasons to have Alexa (or Google, I guess -- best reason is voice-adjusting the thermostat) in the kitchen, especially one with a display. You can set multiple timers, label them, see/ask how much time is left, and all hands-free. I find it invaluable when I'm making something with a complicated recipe.

You're right. Old farts like me (77) used things like egg timers, hour glasses and sundials. ;-)
