For someone entirely new to M12 and looking for this specific model, is this worth jumping on? HD seems to have this and a free 5.0 battery for $250 (before taxes). OR this purchase and the HD twin 5.0 twin pack for $120, (being $270 all in before taxes on the HD purchase)?

I definitely wouldn't pay $100 more to get a 5.0Ah battery. If you just want one 5.0Ah, you can pick them up at Way Source for $66 [waysource.com]. Depending on your use case, you may want to also consider the CP2.5Ah HO battery. Having a compact battery contained within the handle is a nice feature.

It's a great tool, I have the first gen and now this one. Different deals pop up all of the time, I happened to catch the tool and 5.0 battery for $170 a while back at Home Depot.

Currently the best deal I'm seeing is as you mentioned the $150 stubby and 2 pack for $120.

If you want it now that's the play, if you can wait there's always a new deal a month or 3 away. Awesome tool though, you won't regret it.

It says 550 FT LBS!! Is that accurate?? That seems insane for an 18v let alone an m12
