My least favorite battery shop vac. It does work though. The filter clogs crazy fast and becomes useless quickly. Swap it out to a wet filter (not included) or keep a spare filter on hand. I typically like dewalt things for work, but for a shop vac, I'd get almost anything else.

I almost did the Craftsman, with an adapter and could get the price down to $70 with discounts, but then have to pay 20 for the adapter. I already have three battery systems really don't want to jump into a fourth.

Yeah, if you want to cleanup a quick mess get the little Dustbuster style vac- this is only as good as that one, you can't use it's capacity because the filter clogged too quickly.

I have the version that also has a power cord. I got an aftermarket adapter so you can use a bag in it which keeps the filter from clogging…was all that worth it- probably get a different cordless vac

There's a reason for that. I had the plug in/battery version of this and it was by far the most disappointing DeWalt 20v tool I have ever owned. I ended up giving it away. I have a similar Milwaukee M12 vacuum that outperforms it so I kept that one.

This killed two of my batteries before dying itself. Don't recommend.

I love this, use it literally everyday for just light vacuuming around the house. Pro ip, if the hose ever comes loose, it is reverse threaded. Also there is an extra attachment in the handle.

I have this vac. It is VERY light duty. Suction is pretty meh and I have to wash the filter frequently. I also have the VacMaster Beast. Even though it is corded, it has great suction and I can use filter bags to extend the life of the filter. Still looking for a good cordless shop vac that won't break the bank.

On Etsy they have 3D-printed attachment for the intake that allows you to use a 1.5-gallon shop vac bag. It's the only way to make this vacuum useable for dry messes and a bag is always better anyways versus a naked filter.
Otherwise, the design of this is as bad as can be. Not a brushless motor so weak suction, tiny filter that clogs quickly, a bin that is square so you have no cyclonic action to keep the filter clean, etc. This 20v tool loses to the M12 Fuel vacuum which is pathetic considering it has 50% more voltage available to use. DeWALT needs to update to a brushless 20v model or a 60v one and they know it, but they've refused for over a decade now to do so and no one knows why.

I have this vac with the bag adapter from etsy, but using bags really doesn't help much with the suction vs a clean filter. Have considered getting the Milwaukee vac and a battery adapter, but hesitate due to the absence of low-volt protection for the Dewalt battery.

I have this and its very weak. I'll use it to haul into a dirt crawl to suck out some water occassionally. Also use it for very fine ashes in fireplace. Aside from that im always reaching for my real shop vac.

Make sure your filter screen isn't plugged because it's much better than you describe

Cheapest plug in shop vac will be much stronger suction than this. It's good for sawdust and dirt. But it is convenient and portable.
