Seems like a good deal for a new laptop for my kid. Haters, thoughts?

Really risky to buy something that expensive from Amazon. Check the Amazon Reddit
Why? Don't people buy large TVs and thousands of other expensive electronics from them? Has something changed?

Should be fine. I was surprised to see these Arc graphics cards even running some modern games semi smoothly at low resolution and ultra low quality settings.

Considering Amazon has the easiest Customer Service and most forgiving return policies of any online retailer, I have no idea what you're talking about. I probably average well over 50 returns per year without issue.

Wait till they send you the wrong item or a return. You try to return it and they refuse the refund. Check Reddit

It's gotten really bad with people getting the wrong item and trying to return it and getting the refund denied. Check Reddit

Because if you think about it - cheese and milk prices are going up with gasoline.

The only issues I have had with Amazon is I ship a return back and I get refunded then charged for it 6 months later because the stupid business that processes Amazon returns is behind but i have contacted customer service each time and gotten it fixed so bit inconvenient but to be fair I am a heavy returner. If something arrives damaged I send it back I'm not one of these well I'll glue it back together types. Nor do I keep something that was cheap even though it sucks if it's $3 and it sucks I send it back Stick Out Tongue but this is why I shop on Amazon because if I don't like something or if I get a better price in 30 days they have easy returns. The 2 times I received the wrong item I contacted CS and was refunded instantly but in my case the item came in a mailer and was supposed to be a 12 pound item so was obvious even from the photo of the delivered package it could not have contained the ordered item.

Just want to point out that while this is definitely not a "gaming laptop", you can absolutely game on it, especially if you're willing to turn down some settings or adjust resolution. The Arc 130V integrated graphics in these are quite good, and surprise a lot of people. I picked up a deal last year on an ASUS S14 Vivobook with the same specs as this Aspire, and I can easily play the things I love at over 60fps. (While they are admittedly not 2025-2026 AAA titles, they are things like Insurgency: Sandstorm, Dirt Rally, Rally 2, Skyrim, Pinball Arcade, Far Cry Primal, etc.)

Also, these Lunar Lake processors are very efficient, and it's possible to game on battery for hours. Even if you're not gaming, these are the kind of laptops where you really can leave a charger at home for the day and not worry about it.
