I've bought 4 'refurbished' Dyson vacuums over the last 6-7 years (directly from Dyson's website or ebay page), and they have all come looking brand new, with zero evidence of prior use. I'm pretty sure this is Dyson's way of selling new units at a discounted price to move inventory, without impacting consumer mindset of what a new Dyson vacuum costs.
I will say, however, that Dyson's warranty process was the most frustrating experience I've ever had getting help on a unit that wasn't working as expected. Never got them to do anything for me; agents clearly didn't speak English at a high enough level to understand what I was explaining and they just kept giving me the same clearly canned response on how to get it working. Just had to fix it myself. Disappointing. It was worse than Samsung's appliance warranty process, which is saying A LOT. I would never buy a full price Dyson, just for the warranty concern alone.

Agreed. Their product is good but I would not pay full price, as their customer service stinks. It's a gamble if nothing ever breaks, especially the battery.

4 Dyson vacuums in 6-7 years isn't encouraging... my Bissell is 5yrs old and just now starting to need to be replaced

Is this the one that has adapters for Milwaukee batteries? Also, has they fixed their circuit board to protect the battery?

I bought a refurb Dyson stick vac several years ago, but it was definitely used. Barely, but there were signs of use. The vacuum was fine and had all the parts, but the battery was faulty. I wound up buying a knockoff battery replacement (about 1/4 of the cost of a Dyson brand one), and that has been working great. In the end, I still saved an enormous amount compared to buying new, even compared to competing brands like Samsung and Shark, and it's been working great for several years now.

How much of an upgrade is this from a V7 Fluffy I bought years ago?

I also bought frim Dyson refurbished before and while they were not used, they looked like they were serviced or obviously repackaged or parts replaced to look new. First one would not latch or unmatched because of faulty lever for dust bin, they immediately sent a new dustbin and it works fine ever since. V10 I got for 240 or something like that back then. I don't think their customer service is bad. They responded right away.

I still use my Dyson V6 Absolute refurb I purchased in 2017for $160. I've had to replace the filters ($8/3-pk) battery pack ($14) and dust canister ($18), but she still runs like a champ!

I've had good luck with my Dyson v8 over the last 8 years. When something stops working, it has always been a breeze to source parts on eBay.

I agree that is not encouraging, unless they are buying vacuums for the sake of having the newest model, but people who do that tend to buy New not trying to get a deal on a used one! In 10 plus years i only had 2 Dyson vacuums, first one V7 i gave away which still works, just needed to upgrade the roller and the battery. Second one V11 i still use almost daily without any issues. If i needed to get a new one i would look at another Dyson but would not hesitate to get a Shark either.

Not sure how you're making opinions on the matter without any context to put them in. Ask questions first; clarify then voice your opinion.

We have 2 story house to vacuum. 2 dogs, 2 cats. We vacuum every day. First Dyson 7 years ago was used on both levels. Worked great, battery began to get weak from daily use over 2 years (didn't last the full time needed to complete vacuuming), so I bought a new one for the first floor of the house, then used the older vacuum on the second floor (less vacuuming needed on the second floor). Loved the newer vacuum so much, I bought another one to replace the second floor vacuum with and gave the old vacuum away (still worked fine). 4 years later, first floor vacuum needed a new battery for the amount of vacuum we do; instead I bought another newer model refurb and gave the low battery vacuum away to someone who has a smaller house and doesn't need a fully charged battery to complete their vacuuming. The difference between a new OEM battery and a whole refurb vacuum was like $60-70, made sense to get a new vac rather than a new battery. I have paid LESS for 4 refurb Dyson vacuums combined over the last 7 years than for 1 full price Dyson new model vacuum now. Some peoples needs are different than others; we vacuum a lot. We have been happy with our Dyson vacs.
