Metro by TMO has the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ 5G tablet for $30 for existing customers. New customers have to sign up for a phone line to get the deal.

GET THE DEAL ONLINE. DO NOT GO INTO A METRO STORE OR YOU WILL PAY UNNECESSARY FEES.

Limit 1 per household.

To get the deal:
  1. Go to the Tab A9+ 5G page: https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...a9-plus-5g
  2. Select existing customer and login.
  3. Add the tablet to your cart.
  4. Add a $30 tablet plan to your cart.
  5. The tablet is discounted to $0 so your total is $30 with free shipping.
  6. After you get the tablet, activate it with the Metro SIM.
  7. If you don't want to pay for the data plan, just cancel or port out the data line. The Tab A9+ is yours to keep.
To get the deal as a new customer:
  1. Sign up for Metro service. The BYOD $25 line is the cheapest/fastest way if you have an eSIM capable phone.
  2. A day after you activate, you can order the Tab A9+ online as an existing customer.
  3. If you don't want to continue service you can cancel the lines, port them out, or just let them expire.
Note: If you want to stack offers as a "new" customer you can sign up for a "free" phone w/a $40 plan (like the Moto G - 2025) and get a phone + tablet for ~$75 all-in. The moto G makes for a solid emulation device.

The tablet specs:
Battery Description - 7040 mAh
Ports - USB Type-C, 3.5mm Audio Jack
Connectivity - Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, UMTS,HSDPA,HSPA+,5G,LTE, Bluetooth 5.1

Operating System - Android
Ram - 4 GB
Maximum Expandable Memory - 1 TB
Wireless Network Technology Generations - 4G LTE, 5G
Supported Email Platforms - Apple Mail, POP3, IMAP4, SMTP, Microsoft® Exchange, AOL, AIM, Yahoo!® Mail, GMail
WEA Capable - true
Mobile Hotspot Capable - true
Frequency - UMTS: Band I (2100), Band II (1900), Band IV (1700/2100), Band V (850), Band VIII (900); 5G: n25, n41, n66, n71; LTE: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 20, 25, 26, 28, 40, 41, 66, 71
Weight - 17.32 Ounces
Length - 0.27 Inches
Height - 6.64 Inches
Width - 10.12 Inches

Optimizing the Galaxy Tab A9+ 5G:
The Tab A9+ is a solid mid-range tablet, but requires a few optimizations to shine.

In Settings:
  • Disable Edge panels
  • Set Battery protection to Basic
  • Disable Daily Board
  • Disable RAM Plus
  • Reduce animations
You'll also want to disable or uninstall the Metro (or TMO depending) apps.

Unlock status:
The tablet is locked to Metro and T-Mobile by default. This means that you can use it with a Metro SIM or a T-Mobile SIM out-of-the-box.

You cannot use it with any other mobile carrier until it unlocks.

The unlock happens 1 year/365 days after activation.

You should boot the tablet up at least once with the Metro SIM inside and go through setup to both ensure the initial activation happens and to ensure the tablet doesn't factory rest on you in the future.

The "skip SIM setup" workaround is a Samsung test mode that will work initially, but as soon as any SIM card is put into the device it will factory reset and try the initial activation flow. If you go through initial setup at least once with the Metro SIM and then factory reset the device, the tablet will no longer require a SIM for setup AND it will never try to go through the initial activation flow/factory reset on you if/when you do put a SIM inside.

Regardless of the SIM lock status, WiFi always works.

Tablet performance:
It's not a powerhouse, but it works great for web/streaming/email/GDocs/etc. It also makes for a decent retro emulation tablet if you install Retroarch.

Price comparison:
At $30 (or ~$60 for new customers) this is notably cheaper than purchasing the WiFi version which is currently on sale at Amazon for $140 [amazon.com].

Do you have to be a customer for more than 30 days in order to get the tablet offer? I thought they had changed this deal to require that, but I hope I'm wrong. I'd like to get that moto G stylus 2025 plus this. I've been holding off until the tablet offer came back.

Seems like a great deal but I don't want to sign up for a Moto G Stylus if I have to wait 30 days for this tablet deal. Deal is probably gone by then.

So you've been a customer for less than 30 days and have gotten this offer for the tablet?

The 30-day customer requirement only applies if you want to buy the tablet in-store. Which you should never do anyway because the stores always add extra fees. If you look at the fine print on the offer, there is no 30-day requirement for the online purchase. Just the requirement to have an active line w/Metro.

Now this is what I'm talking about, an old school slick deal full of information about how to get the most out of it and making a detailed case for itself. Bravo.
