I do know that it lets your firetv remote control your TV and your TV remote control your firetv, but the fire TV remote cannot do everything your TV remote does for example change your inputs. Does that satisfy your curiosity?
ok but when a boy likes a girl what happens

I have a couple of questions maybe someone can help me with. My current setup at home is: 1. An LG TV, 2 a Sony HT receiver, Fire Stick, Dish DVR and a Panasonic 4k player, all going into 5.1 speakers. The TV and receiver are about 6 years old. Currently, I am running everything with a Harmony Hub. I like the hub, it runs everything perfectly. I've got it set up with macros. Push 1 button to watch TV or stream or watch a disc and it turns everything on, sets the inputs and runs all the equipment with 1 remote. It works well and I am not wanting to replace it. I know the hub is older tech and I know that Logitech quit supporting these years ago. If my hub would die, would this replace it as well?
Modern Tv's Stereo's and streaming boxes support HDMI-CEC basically making the Harmony hub not needed. If I hit power or home or the Nexflix button home on my Shield TV my stereo turns on sets to the shield input then turns the TV on set to the correct input all with one button press. If I power any one of them off they all power off. Dish DVR wow can't believe anyone still has Dish network, better than Direct TV I guess Stick Out Tongue Dish Network was garbage 20 years ago and hasn't gotten any better. Do you live out in the boonies where your internet is really bad? If so get a Starlink and some streaming services and ditch the satellite! I do have a couple streaming services but mostly I put my eye patch on and sing yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

Side note: If you are going on a cruise, a universal remote can be very handy. The cruise ship remote typically doesn't have an input button. If you want to connect your computer to the TV via HDMI, you can't change the input without a universal remote.
Cruise yea I took a cruise once never ever ever again! Would much rather fly somewhere and spend as long as I want at whatever attraction I want than to sit in a boat the and told you have to get back in 6 hours or the boats will leave you Stick Out Tongue I fly somewhere make zero reservations find a hotel next to a sight I want to see go see it if I really liked it or didn't fell like I had enough time I stay another day and see more of it if i was like meh could have done without that I swap hotels to one next to the next sight I want to see rinse repeat!

Not everyone's devices support HDMI-CEC. For instance, I use an old Yamaha receiver that doesn't even have HDMI...
You using composite cables Stick Out Tongue I did that for a while I had a Yamaha flagship that only had component cables but it eventually died and instead of repairing it I just bought a new one with HDMI !

Really? What's your point? HDMI-CEC doesn't replace the functionality of an entire remote.
Neither has any universal remote I have ever had except the Phillips pronto but it died and they stopped making them!

If you watch the antenna feed from the Tv, the Amazon remote cannot control that. Having said that, I bought this for my mother a year ago, and it is only compatible with older firestick remotes.
They still have OTA TV I didn't know that

Reminds me of using pliers to turn the channel on a dial TV. It was on a larger non working console set that served as a TV stand.

After reading through 4 pages, U still can't figure out what this remote does.

I have a fire stick attached to a fire TV. And that's a frustrating setup TBH

But a universal remote will have deeper functionality than most HDMI-CEC

Yeah, butthen you want to watch something on just the tv and not turn on everything else.
Nope, turn on one, they all come on, turn off one, they all go off.
1) Just want to listen to a DVD-A, nothing to see.
2) Want to watch tv but not use the whole surround sound system, just the tv speakers or maybe the bluetooth headset.
3) Watch a movie from Kodi, then I want it all on.

1 out of the 3 will work with CEC, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

We don't all use stuff the same way you do.

HDMI-CEC, good idea, bad implementation.
