Another benefit of this type of mouse is you don't need a full table to use it with a laptop, you can set it next to you or on your thigh when using a laptop on the go.

this type of mouse reversed my plantar fasciitis. yes it takes quite a while to get used to it, but I would not use any other type (tried verticals etc)

I always have used these, for gaming, everyday use, ever since the late 90's. It takes getting used to, especially if all you use is a normal mouse. I never had wrist issues thanks to this type of mouse. But the left clicker eventually will start to go bad and do double clicks after about 2 years or so, at least that was my experience. 3 years ago I bought the 100.00 rechargeable version and its been great, havnt had any left clicker issues as of yet. Charge lasts a long time, only thing that sucks is the rare times you need to recharge you need to plug it in like a phone charger to keep using it till it recharges.

I've been using the M575 for years (using it right now, actually)...it's been great. I use a "traditional" mouse for work, so having something different for personal use I feel is helpful. It does take a little to get used to, but it very nice once you do.

If you are about to buy/try this, i would like to share my experience.this is a different way of using the mouse vs a regular one. we move the entire mouse to move the cursor, but this one does not move. we use the ball to move the cursor. and buttons to select etc.. for browsing i am okay with this, but for work I see real difficulty as i habituated to the regular fast way of moving hand between keyboard and mouse, i felt little time taking process.finally returned it. i think i bought around $25 as amazon resale "like new condition" to try this.
This is exactly what a ball mouse is. And they have been around for decades. Those are often used when precision (like CAD) is required.

How do these compare to the vertical style? Do they have a similar effect versus traditional mice?
I actually have one of these and was thinking about getting a vertical mouse because the wrist position seems different and less prone to causing overuse injuries like plantar.

I really wish someone would make a mouse that can switch between trackball and traditional movement. I'm still surprised I've never seen one.

Hope they fixed the button switch issues they had. I have to really push my mouse buttons hard to make it click. Been this way since new. Older models I own don't have that problem.

Looks like an uncomfortable shoe insert.

If you're wondering what the difference between this and the non-S is, based on specs/marketing it's "silent" as in it has quiet clicks and scrolling, only other major difference appears to be that it uses the new bolt dongle and has a storage spot for it.

Not sure what you guys are trying to talk about but the word plantar refers to the foot in medical lingo. Carpal tunnel maybe?

I used to use the M575 at home and work but I had issues with the left click breaking after a lot of use so I went with the Logitech MX Ergo S Advanced and haven't looked back, a little more expensive but lasts for ever.

Second this, I've owned a 570, 575 and Ergo MX and the Ergo is by far the best. For part time use the 575 is great, but I use the Ergo 40+ hrs a week and for that use wouldn't want to go back. I have the weird best buy "exclusive" version of the OG Ergo with the extra riser piece, I strongly recommend getting one that has it, or buying the riser piece to try (or 3d print it, im sure someones made an STL by now).

Switched to a trackball about 22 years ago. Never looked back and never will.
