These days, these 100 W panels are good for small isolated power needs , but I fell into the trap of getting a lot of them and now that I am getting happy with solar, I will have to replace them to jump to a higher power system. The big issue is too many panels takes up too much room.

Have you been able to figure anything out in regards to why and how? I haven't spent much time digging into it but I've had the same experience.

Genuinely curious how you're having issues. The cables are mostly plug and play..... ? Assuming solar panels are not broken and you are tilting panels at 45 degree angles.....

It's probably user error but the couple of times I tried experimenting, neither of two separate 100w panels (one flexible, one rigid) worked when in direct sunlight. I believe I tried with two separate power stations. I'm positive all the cables were connected properly with connections firm. Maybe I got unlucky with bad panels.

You have to be really unlucky to get solar panels that don't match the voltage of your battery. That's the only thing that is possible. You are connecting one panel to battery? Or doing the multipanel thing? (Connecting panels in parallel or in series confuses me also lol)

I have an Ecoflow and the first time I hooked it up it worked just fine. The next time I tried the exact same setup and it took a few minutes before the solar input started flowing...for whatever reason. If you weren't already, try the simplest setup (one panel, one cable) and go from there. If you have a multimeter (even a super cheap one) that'd help you figure out if the juice is flowing from the panel and through the cable.
To partly answer someone else's question...two panels in parallel will increase amps and two panels in series will increase volts. Parallel is almost always safer because too many volts could damage the charge controller. You need a Y connector cable, tho.
