The company seems to stand behind their product with solid customer service and a good warranty. For what you pay, the quality is absolutely there.
Like others, I paired the base with a 5x30" acacia butcher‑block slab from Home Depot when it went on sale. I sanded it, added a light stain, then finished it with an oil‑based gloss poly thinned with mineral spirits. Three coats, then let it cure in the garage for a couple of weeks to let the smell dissipate.
Assembly of the base is extremely simple, and mounting it to the butcher block was just as easy. It includes all the hardware plus adhesive zip‑ties for cable management. If you spend two minutes routing the power supply and wires neatly underneath, the only visible cord will be the one going to the wall.
This was a fun, manageable project, but you will need some basic tools and skills. The final product costs more than the 3‑piece Amazon tops or the IKEA options, but the durability and appearance are on a completely different level. One spilled drink won't bubble or delaminate the surface like those cheaper tops eventually do.
Everyone who sees mine compliments them and usually asks how to make one themselves.
PS: If you're on the shorter side and buying this for better seated ergonomics, note that the lowest height will be around standard desk height of 30" (once you add a top). You'll still need a footrest to maintain proper posture. There may be other models that go lower if that's a priority.

I held onto my hardware till the tops dropped to $200. (They go on sale often) At the time I couldn't find a cheaper piece of Acacia anywhere else.
That was the best top for the price I could find, for the durability, and best looking. The Hevea is rubber wood and may be cheaper not as durable or as unique looking.
