Derp. Absolutely not true, RAM only matters if you're processing on the CPU not the GPU. If its the CPU then you need a monster CPU in addition to lots of RAM. A 9850X3D is a bad choice for running AI models.

If you click through, at least as of right now, if you bought the RAM alone it comes with WB Black SN7100 4TB SSD as a freebie. So the RAM + SSD is $1700, not $1700+$500. Also there is no need to get this specific RAM, mobo, or CPU as you can get slightly different ones for less that are comparably performant. Like the 9800X3D CPU is like ~98% as good, for less money. It's still a good deal but these numbers are inflated.

This bundle stands out as a high-value parts package for AI or workstation-style builds, especially because the 128GB of G.SKILL RAM and the included 4TB WD_BLACK SSD carry most of the value. The RAM is described as having decent timings, and the free extras make the total pricing look far below buying the parts separately. The main oddity is the pairing of a gaming-focused 9850X3D with 128GB of memory and no GPU, which feels overbuilt for gaming and underbalanced for the CPU. It makes the most sense if the RAM and storage are the real draw.

  • The bundle can support local LLM runs because 128GB system RAM helps handle larger high-context models.

    ThriftyThread5737test_subjaday

  • The included WD_BLACK 4TB NVMe is positioned as a major value driver if the free-gift details are accurate.

    Worlocktoppdealer

  • The RAM kit included in the bundle reportedly has decent DDR5 timings for the 128GB configuration.

    Frank_Nitty

  • A real build outcome shows the bundle can be paired with an RTX 5070 Ti and still land under about $2900 total after adding core components.

    chubbs1900

  • The 128GB RAM pairing can be mismatched with the 9850X3D for typical needs, making the CPU choice feel odd.

    jwongJHurdlowdbowmanKY

  • Using system RAM as a reserve pool for a GPU can kill performance, since VRAM limitations still matter for many workloads.

    PT89ThriftyThread5737

  • The cart pricing can be misleading because the RAM purchase may include the 4TB WD_Black SN7100 SSD as a freebie.

    goldchocobo

  • The bundle composition can be less practical for gaming because it includes no GPU, which can push total cost higher.

This combo is a bit bizarre. For anything you would need 128GB of RAM for, this is not the processor you would want.

Yep. Should either be half the RAM, or twice the CPU cores. Odd choice.

Put 32GB Ram and decent 2TB Hard disk and a 5070ti GPU and get more sales is my guess, that much RAM with that CPU is a waste.

Actually 1/4 the Ram.. 32GB is plenty for gaming.

If anyone buys the combo and doesn't have a use for the free 4tb NVME, let me know. I'm in the market and would be interested.

Have you heard of this new thing called AI? It needs more ram than processing power.

agree. this is a gaming CPU. If it were the 9950X3D then it might make sense.
