This Ryobi ONE plus HP compact 3 8 inch impact wrench stands out as a small, ergonomic tool with enough power for everyday garage work and wheel lug nuts on most passenger vehicles. The 275 foot pounds of torque, low vibration, and compact size make it appealing as a complement to a larger 1 2 inch impact. The kit price also looks strong, especially versus past standalone pricing, and the included 2.0 amp hour battery adds value. The main caveat is that the battery is considered small for an impact, and seized or over tightened fasteners may need more muscle. A handy compact option if you want lighter duty power in a smaller package.
Common Questions (5)
The 3/8 in. and 1/2 in. compact versions are described as the same exact tool with only the anvil changed. The 1/2 in. kit costs about $40 more, so the 3/8 in. version can be the cheaper choice if you can use adapters or already have 3/8 in. sockets.
Yes. It is rated at 275 ft-lbs of torque and can remove wheel lug nuts on most passenger cars and trucks, which are often torqued around 85+ ft-lb. Seized, over-tightened, or long-installed fasteners may need more breakaway force than the rating suggests.
Yes. The tool-only link reportedly drops the wrench to $52.13 if you do not need the included battery. The bundled 2.0 Ah battery is also described as small for an impact wrench, so skipping it can be the better value.
The battery is estimated at about $40 by itself, which helps offset the bundle price. If you already own RYOBI batteries, the kit may be less compelling because the tool-only option is much cheaper.
It is reported to hold up well in daily work use, with one exact model lasting 1-2 years in all-day production work before getting tired. For normal garage use, that suggests a very long service life, and the compact size, low vibration, and ergonomics are highlighted as strengths.

Also, if that thing was over tightened, has been on there a while, is seized up, you're going to need a lot more than the rated fastening torque to break it free
