This is the first time I see a company essentially releasing the SAME phone as last year with an outdated processor.
Pixel 10a is essentially equal to Pixel 9a with same storage, memory, camera etc. The very small stuff they actually changed (screen brightness increase of 10%) won't actually matter to anyone. How is it that Google didn't upgrade the Pixel 10a to Tensor G5 or make any other meaningful upgrades?

The $100 Google store credit will expire in 365 days. Take that into account when considering this deal.

Does the trade in phone needs to be unlocked, can I trade in MetroPCS locked iPhone 13
Google doesn't care about carrier/network lock.

Refer to the SD post I mentioned above, you can get it with FI to save $250 and with $125 trade in you will get the phone for $165 or so effectively
Not interested in Fi, already have a year paid up elsewhere. I can't imagine those costs for a cell plan, I don't need all that. I go with cheap Red Pocket plans, don't need loads of data.

The Fi sign up is for the discount. Once you get the phone you can use it with whatever provider you have, stashing/disabling the FI SIM. You need to keep paying for the service for 120 days but the cost I mentioned includes that service. After that you can cancel the line or pause it for the next deal. Some here has FI line for the phone deals as FI phones are factory unlocked and it's simple to open a FI account with Gmail address for deals like half of S26 ultra coming next week and pixel deals like $550 off P10 pro during last black Friday.

I looked through posts and couldn't find anything that explained any of that in a way I could understanding and act on. Either I overlooked it, or it's because I just have no understand of how Fi works or getting a discount for signup or any of that. It's fine, maybe I'll do a search later and see if I can find instructions in Google/reddit. At this point, I have no idea what the deal would cost me if I could get it doing the Fi route.

Update: quick search, so far the first thing I saw was Fi customers get $50 less for their 6a trade-in. It's always something, lol

So you don't do it from FI, you do it from google store and select FI getting the higher trade in values from google instead. Here's what one need to do in general for Fi deals. However, this won't work for the current deal as it's a bit late, more on that later.

1. Sign up for Google FI flexible plan. Fi has their biggest upfront discount for this plan and this is a pay per GB plan so you don't pay for any data as you won't be using the line. Use the *unmentionable* code during sign up so you get $60 off for the service fees. The flexible plan is $20 per month and $5 tax and other fees on top.
2. Be on FI for 21 days after which Fi considers you an existing users and shows you deals with upfront discounts like $250 off pixel 10a, $650 off galaxy s25 ultra. The only requirements is to stay on FI after activating the phone for 120 days.
3. Order the phone and activate it on FI. Wait for a day for 120 day counter to go down by 1 in the FI app.
4. The phones are factory unlocked so you can move your existing SIM to the FI phone. Disable/remove Fi eSIM/pSIM. The counter will still go down as usual. Make sure not to put that pSIM on any other phone.
5. After 120 day counter reaches 0 pause then service and then rinse and repeat for the next deal.

Ordering from google store: As Google store gives you coupons for pixels and elevated trade in values compared to Fi you should order the phone from the Google store instead. You will have to have the same email address for Google store and Fi and you have to make sure "Allow CPNI sharing" is checked in Fi app. Then log into the store with the Google account, the FI offer should already show up when you choose FI as a carrier. Apply coupon and trade in as needed.

As the Google coupon for pixel 10a expires on 3/11 there is not enough time for you to become an "existing" FI user so this won't work but it will work for any future FI deals like S26 next week etc. I have been upgrading to latest Galaxy ultras every year by not paying money doing this. I sell the older version locally to make up/exceed the money needed for the new one (FI trade in values are abysmal so you should sell the old locally on FB marketplace etc)

Thanks for the post. So are you saying that you can stack the Google Fi Offers with google Store trade in deals using this method? Does the system allow you to double dip?

I was actually curious about this myself. The people at Google support don't even know this. Have you traded in anything?

Of course I let my Google One account lapse at the end of Jan so I missed the $100 coupon. Almost pulled the trigger on the $150 for the 9 but was waiting for this.

Got the $100 code as well.. But the trade in values for pixel 6a is only $125 ☹️so we're in 2 minds now
You can get either 100$ from google, or 150$ credit towards purchases if you haven't used the battery replacement for your P6a. Google for the link. Hope that helps!

I can get it for $136.09 (tax included) with a 9a trade-in and $100 off coupon. I also will get $139.90 in google store credit. The extra $39.90 is due to Google One membership. Not much of an upgrade though but still tempting...
I would not trade 9a for 10a. Not much of an upgrade, unless you have use for those 140$ in store credits to as close 1:1 rate as possible.

From what I can gather you needed to have subscribed to be notified via email of the Pixel 10a release from the Google Store page before it went live. Although I was subscribed and am a superfan but didn't get any discount code, only the generic email notification. Then there are all sorts of other assumptions that trigger the chance of a discount code (pixel phone model, age, number of devices, google one, etc etc) but not real confirmations on what metric Google uses to give them out.

Good Morning,

I'm still on the hunt for a $100 code, if anyone has one they don't intend to use.

Thanks!
