Pixel 10a is essentially equal to Pixel 9a with same storage, memory, camera etc. The very small stuff they actually changed (screen brightness increase of 10%) won't actually matter to anyone. How is it that Google didn't upgrade the Pixel 10a to Tensor G5 or make any other meaningful upgrades?

1. Sign up for Google FI flexible plan. Fi has their biggest upfront discount for this plan and this is a pay per GB plan so you don't pay for any data as you won't be using the line. Use the *unmentionable* code during sign up so you get $60 off for the service fees. The flexible plan is $20 per month and $5 tax and other fees on top.
2. Be on FI for 21 days after which Fi considers you an existing users and shows you deals with upfront discounts like $250 off pixel 10a, $650 off galaxy s25 ultra. The only requirements is to stay on FI after activating the phone for 120 days.
3. Order the phone and activate it on FI. Wait for a day for 120 day counter to go down by 1 in the FI app.
4. The phones are factory unlocked so you can move your existing SIM to the FI phone. Disable/remove Fi eSIM/pSIM. The counter will still go down as usual. Make sure not to put that pSIM on any other phone.
5. After 120 day counter reaches 0 pause then service and then rinse and repeat for the next deal.
Ordering from google store: As Google store gives you coupons for pixels and elevated trade in values compared to Fi you should order the phone from the Google store instead. You will have to have the same email address for Google store and Fi and you have to make sure "Allow CPNI sharing" is checked in Fi app. Then log into the store with the Google account, the FI offer should already show up when you choose FI as a carrier. Apply coupon and trade in as needed.
As the Google coupon for pixel 10a expires on 3/11 there is not enough time for you to become an "existing" FI user so this won't work but it will work for any future FI deals like S26 next week etc. I have been upgrading to latest Galaxy ultras every year by not paying money doing this. I sell the older version locally to make up/exceed the money needed for the new one (FI trade in values are abysmal so you should sell the old locally on FB marketplace etc)
Amazon also offers $100 giftcard on the 10a, which I could easily use, but only wants to give $20 for the trade-in of my 6a (I'd just keep it at that rate!). Gotta weigh it out, would be so much easier to decide if I'd just gotten that $100 off code! lol
FYI - Google offers their own phone service (Google Fi). $20 per month, plus $10 per GB of data used (prorated). I stay on wifi most of the time, so my monthly bill is usually between $35 and $45 with no contract required. I'm not being paid to advertise for them, I just appreciate the service. Customer service is average, everything else is great. They usually offer additional deals on phones and other devices for Fi customers.
