There are a lot of people who can't afford a 32gb laptop and they do basic tasks where 16gb is fine for them. I woulnd't call this a dealbreaker or not future-proof since it is highly dependent on the user. For my mom, this would absolutely be fine for at least 3 years. I would be more concerned with the quality since 32gb of ram does you no good if the laptop dies in 2 years.

LOL, what are you people doing where you can't even do basic tasks with 16GB of ram? How many dozens upon dozens of tabs do you have open in Chrome.....all playing videos at the same time? Seriously, 16GB of ram is fine for 90% of office / school type users if don't let your PC get bogged down with bloatware*, 'extensions*,' and / or malicious software*.
*what I think most of the problem is. People either blame the laptop for their misuse or over compensate the specs not realizing they are just countering the overhead of their own, again, misuse.

Yes, with a 5050. Typing it on it now. Expanded to 32 with a 16gb sodimm and added 1tb nvme in the vacant pcie slot. Also, its a LOC Lenovo which is a step up. No Oled though, but thats no big deal as its used for gaming and static images alot so burn in worries. The LOC's have better dispalys than the standard IdeaPads and 144 hz refresh rates.
LOC isn't necessarily a step up. It a budget gaming laptop vs the IdeaPad which is an Ultrabook. The IdeaPad will have much better battery life since it's in a different category of laptop.

All Ultrabooks have soldered RAM. Buy the absolute best specs you can afford and think you will ever need during the life of the ultrabook's lifetime because you're going to be stuck with it. Not a bad thing necessarily, but plan ahead.
This is what Mac users have been doing for years. Isn't this series of CPUs based on integrated GPU architecture like the Apple M Series chips?

I do office work. 5 opened pdfs, 1 word document, Firefox with 15 tabs, zoom opened, and I am at 90% of 16Gb of Ram.
You'd be wise to learn how a modern OS (since Windows NT) works. A modern OS will use all available ram at all times as unused ram is wasted ram.

Also those with 32GB RAM and not using it, which is most of them, are actually wasting money on electricity. All RAM must be constantly powered, even the RAM not being utilized.
Half a watt maybe on a bad day? And a modern OS will use all available RAM at all times.

Also it has 24GB total memory including 8GB in the RTX 5050. That 8GB is used for a lot more than just games - big difference from 16GB RAM with integrated graphics.
That's one way to write that, but no one does that. It has 16gb of ram, and the gpu has 8gb. To say otherwise will promote misunderstandings.

16GB should be enough for average users. But RTX 5050 is not just for average tasks. I would like to get some opinions from who bought this laptop. How it performs for gaming, video editing, or extensive tasks with 16GB?
It's better than the average gpu on steam (which is what game developers target for games) by a good margin.

Depends a lot on what type of "office" work you do.
Between Figma, VS Code, Chrome, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint & a few app servers for development I'm currently using ~85 GB / 192 GB.
When app servers have been running for a few days of hot deployments in dev mode, they have a tendency to leak memory and I wind up needing to restart because I'm running out of memory (why I originally upgraded from 64 GB).
I have have Unity up and running too that eats up even more.
