Anker's wired vertical mouse is a compact, affordable ergonomic option that can ease wrist strain and feels better than a standard mouse for long daily use. The slim shape fits the hand well, the cord avoids battery swaps, and the light body makes it easy to use at a desk. The main drawback is durability, especially the scroll wheel, which can stutter, register the wrong direction, or fail after months or years. The matte coating can also peel, and the size may feel small for larger hands, making it a practical starter vertical mouse.

I guess inflation and tariffa almost doubled the price in less than 8 years.
Average price has been around $18.50 since about 8 years ago. So no to your assumption

Bought two of these 3 years ago. With daily use, one experienced an issue where the mouse wheel will randomly register the wrong direction when trying to scroll. Rubber cover on the wheel also eventually separates from the plastic wheel body so it spins freely until you super glue it. Saw other mentions of that weak point in Amazon reviews.
Can confirm. Have owned multiples of this model over the years and the scroll wheel failing is always what ends up causing it to prematurely end up in the ewaste bin. This issue is not exclusive to Anker, either. Anker simply rebrands these. Perixx has the same problem.

I've been using one maybe 8-9 years. I used a Logitech MX one for a while but ended up coming back to Anker, it just feels better.

This is a beast. Will last you a long time. Only negative is it is small. For a beginner vertical mouse just buy it you want a good vertical mouse on a responsive cord.

Same here. I can grip the Anker mouse in my palm, but the Logitech is more narrow and leaves a gap between the palm and fingers.

I switched to a vertical mouse like 20+ years ago and have owned several. I'm a computer guy and before I switched, I was getting constant numbness in my right wrist/fingers/hand. The mouse helped a lot.

As far as this particular mouse, I owned the wireless version of this (or a clone of this). It's.... ok. But to just try one out 17 bucks isn't TOO bad.

I just recently bought this one to try out (it hasn't arrived yet) for a few bucks more.

My current daily driver when working from home:

And I have one of these as backup and one that I use when at the office: ( got them on clearance a few years ago for like 8 bucks each)

The onn ones are starting to show the scroll wheel issue, so it's not isolated just to the anker one.

Good luck! It's worth trying to see if you can get some relief. It takes a little getting used to, but I'm never going to go back to a "standard" mouse again.

I've used this for about 8 years now and here are my thoughts:
  1. The black matte coating will start to peel after a few years. I ended up scraping all of it off with my fingernails to show the slicker plastic underneath, which surprisingly I'm enjoying more
  2. The buttons are very clicky sounding and has a lot of travel which is not good for ergonomics. Wish they were silent and had less travel
  3. The scroll wheel click is situated very well. The click is a bit below the center of the wheel which works well because your hand will be behind the mouse, not on top of it
  4. Very light, which is good for ergonomics
  5. I had to take it apart once to clean the wheel because cat hair got into it
I ended up trying the Logitech lift during best buy's presidents Day sale and will end up returning it and buying a wireless version of a vertical mouse on Amazon that looks exactly like the Anker, but has silent clicks. The Logitech lift is too wide at the bottom. The Anker is slimmer overall. The Logitech is also much heavier

get wireless, even if u gotta go with no name brand
Both wired and wireless work great. I prefer my wired, to entirely remove the need for battery swap.
