Install syncthing-fork on both of your phones, and leave your pixel plugged in at home. Setup syncthing to sync your camera folder from your real phone. Any time you take a photo or video it'll immediately transfer directly to your pixel and backup to Google photos from there. It's like having the unlimited original quality Google photos storage deal on any phone.

You can even download all the photos and videos you have in your Google photos account currently (Google takeout makes this easy), delete them from Google photos, copy them to your pixel 1 camera folder, and they'll upload back into your Google Photos account, but take up no space.

And if anyone wants in on this, just buy a used pixel 1. All photos and videos that upload to Google Photos from a pixel 1 take up no storage space on your account, regardless of what device you used to capture them. It's free lifetime unlimited original quality photo and video cloud storage.

At some point in the future the OS on the original pixel will become too old to run the latest Google photos app, and this loophole will end, but anything you upload until that time is free to store forever.

Did the costco route:

Max 4 lines allowed
No activation fee, $100 shop card per line
Have credit card ready to pay tax for the full price of the phones
Have your old phone IMEI ready - need to be T-Mobile network compatible. I used the decades old 2G phones
Have computer ready to DocuSign the order email
It took me one hour to complete, no hiccups

I bought a pixel on eBay for the unlimited uploads. I just transfer ask my pics to the pixel every few weeks. I even have a backup pixel 1 in case it dies.

This will wear out the storage on the pixel 1. So will kill a 32gb pretty quickly.

You don't actually need to upload from the pixel 1 though, only need to add them to your account from it. This can be done via a sharing link for photos already uploaded to another account.

$35 activation fee + taxes = $61 checkout but they took my old, cracked Pixel 4XL for trade so worth.

Good to know, I never thought to try that.
Is there any way to automate the process?

Try selecting a line and saying you want to upgrade your current device. Once I did that the "any device any condition" promo appeared. And after doing this you can change the trade in device to a different one; the promo still applies.

Why would you get the 9a vs the 10 promo? I'm on Simple Choice, and was able to do it on 2 lines with the pixel 10 promo. They charge activation fee, but do you have to transfer the # to new phone? Wanted to keep one as a spare and keep using my current paid off phone (non-Pixel). TIA

Would love to hear more about how to do the sharing and if there is a way to automate? I have a Pixel 3 (which offers unlimited compressed uploads) and have a TON of pics I'd like to upload...

For me it shows as on qualified plans and the Advantage Unlimited plus is not listed in the qualifying plans.

Did they allow you to keep the same plan or have you upgrade to one of their higher priced plans?

Also, did you in the past move from the Sprint advantage plans to T-Mobile simple choice?

I don't think everybody qualifies for the pixel 10 promo.
