The Toshiba Portégé (now under Dynabook) is a premium, ultra-lightweight laptop series designed for business professionals, emphasizing portability, durability, and security.
Known for magnesium alloy chassis, long battery life, and often featuring "thin-and-light" designs (like the X30 or Z30),
these machines frequently include features like spill-resistant keyboards, fingerprint readers, and robust,, high-performance components.

The Ultrabook 2-in-1 form factor, all magnesium-built, 400-nits display, excellent port selection, and more, yet you decided to nitpick the most unreasonable thing. Your comment is in no way helpful to anyone.

I guess the question is whether it's actually better to have something theoretically more capable running windows for that kind of use, especially if it's only going to have 8gb of ram anyway
Specs are fine for daily driver or basic office work, as long as you're trimming tabs and using a reasonably efficient web browser with ad blocking--at least we're way past Flash bloat. Anyway, I'd say it's way easier to fit performance into the hardware by putting Linux on it than it would be to change the battery out when the time comes.

IMO the main thing that seems good about this is that it's about as small/light as you can get a usable windows laptop for anywhere near this price
I have a used lenovo duet 10.1 chrome tablet 2-in-1 with 8gb of ram that I got two years ago from ebay for $130 that I love, but the biggest problem with the duet is that while I'd love to take it as my only laptop/tablet on trips, if there's a situation I might need to use windows, that simply won't work, so I'm probably going to pick this up because for $154 I'm not going to find anything else the same weight as that and almost as small that can reasonably be my only laptop/tablet, even if this is much worse as a tablet than that. E.g. a chuwi minibook is like $350+ and has an n150 cpu which is basically unusable for anything you would actually need windows for.
