No, it is not. The user only has access to the SSD and fans: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Dyn...471.0.html

8GB ram is the real killer, 256GB storage is usable and upgradable. RAM is soldered onboard and doesnt seems to have additional slot.

Something that is easily upgradeable, killed it?
The Ultrabook 2-in-1 form factor, all magnesium-built, 400-nits display, excellent port selection, and more, yet you decided to nitpick the most unreasonable thing. Your comment is in no way helpful to anyone.

8gb of ram kind of sucks but at $154 for this kind of ultraportable it actually seems insanely good if you compare it to something like a chuwi minibook or a lot of chromebooks
I guess the question is whether it's actually better to have something theoretically more capable running windows for that kind of use, especially if it's only going to have 8gb of ram anyway

Maybe a good system to let the kids learn on and use. Also something you could grab and bring with you while out and about if you're doing light work? The eBay listing has seller paying for return shipping so doesn't seem that risky to try it out.

Maybe this is a good candidate to slap on ChromeOS flex for a chromebook at a price vs spec that beats anything other chromebook out there?

5+ year old non-user-replaceable battery (based on CPU gen and likelihood this batch is from 5-year business leases ending). Even with the battery management system and battery "health" at 80% (that's not the lifespan of the battery, you're definitely not getting 20 more years), I would only plan on using this for 3-4 more years and count the time beyond that as a blessing (BMS should keep it from getting into spicy pillow territory. Should). So I would value this at $35-50 a year for a laptop. Not saying that's bad, just laying it out. You could probably find a next buyer to take it off your hands after 3 years for $150...
Specs are fine for daily driver or basic office work, as long as you're trimming tabs and using a reasonably efficient web browser with ad blocking--at least we're way past Flash bloat. Anyway, I'd say it's way easier to fit performance into the hardware by putting Linux on it than it would be to change the battery out when the time comes.

Walmart has free returns in store for 90 days, eBay looks like buyer pays return shipping. Also 5% back at Walmart with PayPal debit.... Hmmm ..
I don't know if it changed, but right now on the Ebay listing, I'm seeing "30 days returns. Seller pays for return shipping."

battery can be replaced quite easily, not sure how hard it is to get a new one though

I see the same price at Walmart as well
Walmart is listed as fair. They guarantee only 60% battery.

I think SSD is upgradable. 8GB RAM is the real deal breaker here

why is the MSRP for this listed so high? Did anyone have a good reason? I don't know the brand at ALL.

This is really tempting.. has anyone used the Allstate warranty before? Is there a deductible? Do you have to pay for shipping?
You just get the prorated refund for the warranty period.

Been using Windows and Linux for years probably more than some have been alive on this thread. Nothing is wrong with no memory upgradability, or Windows. You just to know how to use and configure windows. The weight of this thing and power usage makes it worthwhile for this price. Been using a i5 NUC for "Work from home" use since 2018 running Windows 10 LTSC under 8GB. Unless someone is into gaming or imaging/video business, this is more than adequate.

If you want a server I would get a minipc; there are tons of good cheap ones these days.

IMO the main thing that seems good about this is that it's about as small/light as you can get a usable windows laptop for anywhere near this price
I have a used lenovo duet 10.1 chrome tablet 2-in-1 with 8gb of ram that I got two years ago from ebay for $130 that I love, but the biggest problem with the duet is that while I'd love to take it as my only laptop/tablet on trips, if there's a situation I might need to use windows, that simply won't work, so I'm probably going to pick this up because for $154 I'm not going to find anything else the same weight as that and almost as small that can reasonably be my only laptop/tablet, even if this is much worse as a tablet than that. E.g. a chuwi minibook is like $350+ and has an n150 cpu which is basically unusable for anything you would actually need windows for.
