Why would anyone give you thumbs down? Mobile 7 is a better model than the SE, so there's no reason to buy this when you can get the 7 for the same price.

Because these devices will be seriously gimped in the future. The hardware is great but the software is ChiComm spyware that will be outlawed shortly. The real question will be can you use these with other software and not use DJI crap.

I bought this and now there are 3 unmarked white vans parked across the street from my house. Coincidence?

Chinese companies track and collect data for US military and federal personnel - any tech that involves location positioning does it - imaging, phones, drones, smart tires Smilie etc. Maybe not interested in you, but definitely interested in your neighbor who is military or works for a defense contractor. US does the same, probably not in China though simply because the US doesn't make anything anymore but software, and the Chinese walled off the software already Smilie.
So yeah, back to the topic - I legit deal downgrade for a hardware that might be not usable in any moment.

I don't actually see anything in there about why existing products we already own and were approved will be nerfed

Not true: The FCC ban primarily blocks new authorizations for future equipment. Because the Osmo Mobile 7 and Osmo Mobile SE were already FCC-certified and imported before the cutoff, they are legally allowed to be sold and used in the U.S. There is no technical "kill switch" that will brick your gimbal.shake head

If government found it'll damage to national security, all such things should be confiscated and burnt to the ground? Like other things they're doing. Those are still selling, people still buying and using them. What's the point?
