I can barely take care of the plants I have not sure how my pets will do with their own.

Calathea can be difficult. I have never had luck with them. They like high humidity (60-70%), no drafts and do not like tap water. I am not to the point that I am going to buy distilled water just for my plants.

Distilled water is great for coffee makers and ice makers to extend their lifespans. Hard water kills them quick.

Calathea is spider mites magnet. Treat them regularly with neem oil

not that its "for pets" I think they meant to say "safe for pets" as many plants are toxic to pets. eg cats:

Many common household and garden plants are toxic to cats, with lilies(especially Easter, Tiger, and Day lilies) being the most dangerous, as even small amounts can cause fatal kidney failure. Other highly toxic plants include Sago Palm, Aloe Vera, Azalea, Pothos, Snake Plant, Tulips, and Daffodils. Ingestion often leads to vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, and, in severe cases, seizures or liver failure.

Sure, but then you have to drink gross flat coffee. You need the minerals, Marie.

Be careful when ordering where the weather is below freezing right now. You don't want these sitting out on your front porch very long

I make ice coffee mostly. My ice cubes are mostly from the tap. I don't have a preference for the flavor that tap vs distilled water has on things but my wife does, so I get that it can be different for different people.
