They're all feel and operate fine, the issue is longevity. The OG Switch Pro controllers are known to suffer from stick drift. I've repaired nearly a dozen drifting controllers for friends, replacing them with Hall Effect sticks (Ginfull from aliexpress). The upgrades have held up really well, even with the most serious of Smash Ultimate players.
The Switch 2 Pro controller hasn't been out long enough to determine if stick drift will be an issue, but tear down videos of the controller indicate that repairs are difficult and can permanently damage the controller (Nintendo decided to use adhesive to keep the face plate on). Additionally, the joysticks on the Switch 2 Pro controller are asymmetrical, so repairs aren't as simple since you need a specific LEFT and/or RIGHT joystick now when repairing (or upgrading in the future).
The 8Bitdo Pro 3 (and Ultimate 2) use TMR sticks, which will never drift. There is a known issue with the alternative buttons for the Pro 3, though. The dye used for the green button causes the plastic to be really brittle and will break with normal usage. There's plenty of posts about it on reddit, and while 8Bitdo is offering free replacements (and covering shipping), there's no guarantee how long the replacements will last. I prefer to have a controller that won't give me issues while the warranty is still valid.
This deal in particular likely has the faulty alt buttons that will break. It's a non-issue if you prefer the default colors though. I kinda wish this deal had the Orange version, but I might grab the Gray because it reminds me of the OG PS1 controller days of yore.
So to clarify, I'm not expecting Switch games to suddenly have analog trigger support, I'm just speaking more generally, that's why I said it wasn't really a criticism of the Pro 2 controller specifically, but the Switch. (But it would also be great to have if the Switch 2 Pro controller ever got support for other systems, like PC, Android, or Mac.) I love Nintendo systems, but the lack of analog triggers across their modern platforms is a very annoying design choice.

- Allows multiple profiles. This is critical for later.
- Allows you to swap dpad and left stick as what is used on games. So if you have that game that needs left stick input but you prefer dpad, swap it on one profile.
- 4 macro buttons and macro timing can be configured easily. Don't use online though.
- No accidentally turning the controller on. You must hit the start button. So it carries around easier

Switch 2 Pro controller has back buttons. I've yet to find a Switch 2 Pro controller for under $90. Even the Switch Pro controller is $80 retail (you can find them under $40 shipped on eBay though). What price did you see at Costco?
I hear this argument a lot about the controller lacking analog triggers and I don't get it, so I'm hoping you can help me get a better understanding. Switch and Switch 2 do not support analog triggers in any game. In what instance are you playing a Switch/Switch 2 game and feeling that analog triggers would have been a better option? I appreciate your input (pun intended)!
