I have a few Ryobi 18v tools and batteries along with Dewalt 20v and Milwaukee 12v. When I researched this tool it seems Dewalt was the only one that got consistent high praise in reviews. Yeah I paid a tad more than the Ryobi but I wanted something I was certain that can handle mosts tasks I throw at it. Not a diss on Ryobi or even Milwaukee M12 as I have both and actually have more Milwaukee M12 tools than my Dewalt.

Is this much better than an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel?

Each have their place. But generally, the angle grinder for the heavier duty stuff that has no space restriction. I use this cut off for quick cuts or sharpening of my tools.

I have this tool, probably one of the most useful and underrated tools I own. Love the tool, not thrilled about the price here.

I've had this tool for a few years now, and I love it. I'm a big DIY and this thing has cut through steel sheets, tile, grout, stone veneer and drywall with ease. It's variable speed and the trigger is very responsive. Much easier and more versatile than the grinder, for the smaller tasks. One of my favorite tools.

I'm very happy with mine. Easily cut a lock with a lost key that I'd never have thought it would cut.

Had to cut thru plastic coated metal w angle grinder recently (key storage box on a rental unit) and found that it bogged down and wore out the batteries very quickly. Took a lot longer than I would have thought. With this you'd have to remove the guard to get close enough though

No it's not a Slickdeal.
The Ridgid with a battery and Charger is only $20 more. https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGI.../314064366

And it's lot better tool. You should not be paying More for Ryobi than Ridgid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOpPbCmriJE
