Be sure to use the cards soon. Just read one of the companies went bankrupt:

Costco has issued a recall and is offering refunds for restaurant gift cards issued by Synergy World/Synergy Gift Card Network, which filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and ceased operations on Jan. 31, 2026. Customers who purchased these third-party cards between Oct. 27, 2025, and Jan. 26, 2026, can return them to any Costco location for a refund of the remaining balance

This is a very different kind of company. Inkind provides capital to restaurants in exchange for them being paid back, at least in part, through the redemptions of these gift cards and through their app at each restaurant.

Completely unrelated company-
But I think the advice of not sitting on gift cards is very sound and a good reminder for everyone.

Buying gift cards and vouchers from Costco is an extremely safe option though as they will stand behind problems like this. I had a similar issue with a MoviePass voucher from Costco when they went bankrupt and Costco gave me a full refund.

I was going to pull the trigger but decided to pass after reading the reviews about all the bad experiences and it's rebate program. I understand it varies but I would not want to take the chance.

It's legit I've used inKind a ton, you'll want to check the restaurants in your area first to see where it's eligible. All my payment experiences have been simple. Referral perk is nice as well if you have a spouse or someone you eat out with.

Totally different situation. I just used my 25 off 25 at Oinkster tonight. The company is legit and I even asked the register guy if this is a thing and said they get a lot of this app. They like it so far. Works for me. YMMV?

I would definitely check your area before purchasing. In a decently sized town myself and only about 8 companies in my county accept these.

I've been using Inkind for 3+ years. Literally have never had a single issue. I jump on these gift cards any time they're available. A 35% discount at restaurants is huge these days.

My husband and I have enjoyed using the offers and discounted gift cards. Restaurant prices are so high that we really try to go out but only by using discounts and local specials a lot more.

I have used inKind for years and spent thousands and thousands and thousands of dollasr through it, and it is amazing. I live in Washington, DC, and like others have said, you need to see what options are available in your area. In mine, they have tons of great restaurants, and constantly add more. Many of my wife and my favorite restaurants (some organic, and some we tried because they were on inKind) are included. We have also found great ones when we travel, and I frequently have to remember when we try a new restaurant to pull it up because many restaurants we happen to be trying accept inKind.

On top of 35% off for the inKind certificates, they very frequently send you additional discounts that stack with the credits. Last night, my family and I ate at an upscale sushi restaurant. Our bill was $170, and I used a $25 off $150 credit they had sent me, so it was really $145. Then, with 35% off the balance, I really paid $170-$25=$145 x 0.65 = $94.25. Again, in my area, they have great restaurants. This is nothing like restaurant.com or other sites that have poor selections. Note: You can't use credits for the tip, so you load your credit card in the app and the tip is charged separately to your credit card. Right now, I have 2 more inKind credits in my account: $25 off $25+ expiring 3/8, and $40 off $80+ expiring 3/31. (I used the $25 one last night because it was expiring today.)

I have a balance of about $1,500. Like others have said, it's hard to know what their financial stability is, but they keep adding restaurants, so I'm thinking it must be ok for now. And, if they do file bankruptcy, I wonder if the credits would still be good, since the restaurants have already been paid for the credits. Even if they went out of business and I lost the $1,500, I would have made far more than that over the years from them, but I don't think anything like that is happening soon.

I have never had a restaurant flinch at accepting inKind, including in conjunction with happy hours, deals, restaurant week specials, or whatever. And it really is easier than paying normally. When the waiter/waitress brings the bill, I explain that I will be paying with inKind, and they say no problem. I pay in the app and walk out.

I understand if you're skeptical, it is definitely worth a look.

p.s. When inKind offers discounts directly, they are adding credit, so it's not the same deal.

For example, if inKind says "we'll offer you 40% bonus credit," that means if you buy $100 in credit they will give you $140. So your discount is really $40/$140 = 29%.

The discount for buying this card from Costco is $35/$100 = 35%.

The CostCo on sale gift cards @ 65% are always the best deal these days.

That's not a true 40% discount, if you do the math. They're simply giving you a 40% bonus but only on the bonus points, not on the whole amount. The Costco gift card is a much better deal at 35%.
