Studies show sonic/vibrating toothbrushes to be less effective that the scrubbing ones like Oral B.

Probably because people using sonic brushes aren't brushing their teeth thinking the vibration is doing all the work.

It's hard to imagine it would be worse than a regular toothbrush and those are enough to not get cavities.

Yeah, I wouldn't take the claims of a Youtube dentist too seriously. He could be the 1/5 dentist who is a nut job.

The video is a bit wordy, but follows all the recommendations I've seen for electric tooth brushes. You shouldn't scrub your teeth or apply too much pressure when using any electric toothbrush, you let the brush do the work and just move from tooth to tooth, pausing each time. That said, I've heard that sonic tooth brushes can be just as effective as the Oral-B type, and possibly safer on gums.

Also if people still want this, it's $9 on Amazon (or $8.50 after S&S): https://www.amazon.com/Bymore-Too...72M62?th=1

  • The advantage for oscillating‑rotating over sonic is measurable but modest, not a night‑and‑day gap.
  • For most people, brushing time, technique, and brushing twice daily matter more than whether the powered brush is sonic or oscillating‑rotating.

Does the company think they can exert subliminal influence?
