Whats the speciality of this "Apple" cable? Isnt it a plain USB-C cable? Is it specifically to be used on Apple products or any special feature only works that normal USB-C cable doesnt support? OR is it just a marketting gimmick to label it as "Apple" for sales? :-)
It's just a plain USB C cable which you should have a very high confidence level of it being solid and lasting many years. If you don't receive a counterfeit.

These are going to be fake. Had woot send out fakes to me before, which they admitted to, but they said that it was drop shipped by a third party who just advertises on their site so not their responsibility. Apple doesn't sell their cables in bulk like this.

Ordered 1 of the 3-pack.

Coupon code only applied one $5 discount when I tried to order 2 of the 3-packs. Will see what they look like when they arrive.

  • Laser Etching: Look for "Designed by Apple in California" and "Assembled in China/Vietnam" (or Indústria Brasileira) on the cable sheath, followed by a 12-digit serial number.
  • Connector Quality: Authentic connectors have smooth, consistent, and well-rounded, gold-plated, or silver-colored contacts.
  • USB-C End Structure: Genuine cables typically have a white, clean interior inside the Type-C port, whereas fakes often have a black interior. The USB-C connector shell should feel smooth and, in some cases, have incredibly small "Apple" text printed on the metal end.
  • Physical Feel & Build: The plastic material is consistent and high-quality, not rough or easily damaged.
  • MFi Certification: If it is not made by Apple but is a licensed third-party cable, it must have the "Made for Apple" (MFi) badge on the packaging.
  • Testing Tool: You can use software like 3uTools on a Windows computer to "Test Data Cable" and check its authenticity.
Signs of a Counterfeit Cable:
  • Missing or poorly printed text on the cable.
  • Rough finishing, inconsistent materials, or uneven, poorly centered pins.
  • Silver-plated instead of gold-plated contacts.
  • The cable is excessively thin, fragile, or lacks the 12-digit serial number.

I wouldn't trust it either but now woot even put a disclaimer on the listing saying they got them directly from apple. Unless they mean some guy named Tim Apple in a back alley?

I recently bought a few of these exact cables from Walmart. Definitely OEM. I will compare them to these once they arrive.
I have bought almost full price Walmart ones and they were definitely Apple, not knockoffs. Woot discounted one? Unknown

That's not woot saying it. That's the drop shipper. Woot won't take responsibility for what the drop shipper says or claims. As they explained it, they are just a way for sellers to advertise their products and woot doesn't sell it themselves.

btw, you do realise that there are more than ONE seller who sell this cable... just browse woot around and you will see it... the APPLEFIVE seller is different than the other sellers that do not have the discount... different seller may have different item, meaning, you may receive a fake from seller A, but definitely authentic from seller B, but both advertised bulk packaging
