Mine has a variable speed trigger, and a "dial/lever" on the side of the handle to so it will stay at any speed tou want without having to constantly squeeze the trigger. I love mine, but as already mentioned, it eats batteries/power. For personal use with an average size lawn you should be fine with 1 battery (minimum 9ah).
