Not SDS, so skip this if you're looking for a masonry and concrete hammer drill.

Not a deal breaker as a new home owner, still can work. Trades people would laugh though.

SDS drill bits (Slotted Drive System) are specialized for rotary hammer drills to provide high-impact, efficient drilling in concrete and masonry. The best alternatives depend on whether you are trying to use a different tool, need to drill different materials, or want to use standard bits in an SDS drill.

Here are the primary alternatives:1. For Concrete/Masonry (Without an SDS Drill) If you do not have a dedicated SDS rotary hammer, you can use these with a standard hammer drill: Carbide-Tipped Masonry Bits (Straight/Hex Shank): These are the most common alternative, designed to fit standard 3-jaw chucks.Multi-Material/Multipurpose Bits: Bits like the Bosch Blue Multi-Construction or EZArc Hex Shank bits can drill through concrete, brick, wood, and metal, offering high versatility.Diamond Core Bits: Ideal for cleaner, faster holes in hard masonry, tile, or stone.

Please note, the SDS model is on sale as well. You will easily see the difference in the equipment : https://slickdeals.net/f/19233517

It's still good for metal and wood drilling, but the hammer function is minimal. If you have a lot of concrete to drill, you're going to be burning through bits like crazy. But if you're just drilling a hole in brick every once in a while, you probably don't need the separate SDS.
