I assume you mean the Torrentshell? The Alta Vista is lighter, packs smaller, but also has less rain protection. I can't even find the water rating for the Alta Vista, but I know it's lower as the jacket is 2.5 layer vs 3.0 layer for the Torrentshell. That said, a good 2.5L jacket that is packable is probably the sweet spot for many users.

I should say I love backpacking and trail running and the Alta Vista that I bought on clearance from REI fits a lot of my use cases. Just don't expect it to hold off a massive storm. It'll wet out under high volume water days.

The model's hair and especially her facial expression make it seem like she's just been on a very unpleasant walk in a soaking rain... Which wouldn't seem to flatter the product very much.
