It's totally fair to evaluate the quality of a deal based on previous available prices. Especially if it was just a few months ago.

What do you suppose a heat sink should do? If it's cold then it's just keeping all the heat inside.

This thing is built like a tank. kind of annoying it requires a screwdriver though. It got hotter than it should (not that great of a heat sink), so I passed.

I have this model, and it's the ONLY ONE I found to not do random disconnects on my Mac Mini m4. Has been rock solid since I plugged it in.

I thought USB was supposed to be cheap. It's creeping into thunderbolt pricing.

These are Thunderbolt, aren't they? Or does "compatible" just mean USB-c?

This enclosure appears to be a clone of the OWC Express 1M2. I'm eager to see how it compares to it. I purchased mine for $75, which is not significantly more than this deal for a reliable and well-tested OWC enclosure.

Scroll up, bubba - I linked everyone (you too) to the OWC already. Not a clone.

Reminds me of that enclosure from OWC. Might as well be a doppelganger w/ the price to match 😅: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CPYQPCVP

Appreciate the heads-up, this is a 'want', not a 'need' for me so I can hold off till there's a $40 deal again.

Glad a picked up a few 4tb drives at near historic bottom prices, gonna be awhile till we get back there, by then we might be lookin at $40 TB5/USB5 fanless enclosures.

I have the ACASIS 40Gb enclosure and it's been rock solid with my Mac Mini m4. I even used is as the main (boot) drive for 6 months since the internal one was only 256GB. Not a glitch.
